Had a great long weekend exploring the North Carolina smokies. Rented a teardrop trailer from https://www.redmountainteardrops.com/ and booked a private campsite near Cullowhee NC...
I tacked up a collapsible storage rack for my freedom panels so I can take them with me (beautiful mornings and afternoon showers out of nowhere are a regular thing here...) without getting the panels banged up or permanently giving up my storage space. It's just one bolt with a butterfly nut...
I had a similar situation after doing the mopar 2" lift. I ultimately picked up some adjustable rear upper control arms to get it into that 1-3 degree range (I think I was 4-5 before). From what I understand, it won't affect your handling at all, it will just gradually chew up your u/cv joint...
I ultimately picked up some adjustable rear control arms (I think I went upper because they were cheaper but either would work) and got it into that 1 to 3 range.
Yep, that was me :). Just checked out your build - like what you've got going with the softtop and the rack over it! Like 20 years ago in Birmingham there was a guy that had an OLD 4runner or tacoma that had a custom rack in the back with a canvas top that he kept rolled up on the sides. That...
The bolts into load distribution blocks were for the front and rear gate. Same as mine based on the instructions. What i am referring to is the studs on the roof which are shown on page 7 figure 3 of the instructions.
You are making me doubt my memory now, but my recollection was that the flat roof had a layer of foam and then bolts sticking through holes. The bolts were attached somehow to the roof but it wasn't visible due to the foam/gasket. My assumption is that they were passed through some sort of...
Finally got the smartcap and put it on over the weekend. Overall went pretty smoothly - had a little bit of issue with the bolts on the roof which started spinning but I was able to use a screwdriver under the washer to put enough pressure to keep them from spinning. Happy with the look -...
Just finished installing my smartcap. Generally, very pleased. One thing to note - the studs on the roof broke loose and started to spin during installation as soon as I got to the nylock bead. I was able to use a screwdriver under the washer to put enough friction to stop the turning and get...
Looks great @RodRecket ! Will definitely consider switching over to your wheel/tire once I wear these out - would have preferred to keep them in tight. I'm about 3" out from under the fender now. Trying to figure out if rockblox or similar + a wider fender (looking at rugged ridge tube...
Yep! There's also a lot I like in the Defender mockup or the Africa concept Inside Design: 2015 Jeep® Wrangler Africa Concept: - [Banned Site] with the roof rack, limb risers, lights etc... that I'll be thinking about adding as I start to use it more and if it seems like it will be useful...
Thanks for the advice! - I've got the rubicon express sway bar disconnect kit ready to install once I get a free afternoon. Any advice on best air compressor to go with?
Wrapped up first part of the build - pro comp 7069 wheels, 315 ko2s, mopar 2” lift with daystar leveling kit in the front. I added steer smart drag link and adjustable track bar in the front, Rancho geometry brackets, and rubicon express adjustable track bar in the back (all done with some...
Looks like the front is ok. Interestingly (because back is Mopar not Frankenlift) the pinion angle in the back is just a hair over 4 degrees and I haven't been able to find anything other than generic guidance that 1-3 degrees is the acceptable range for a drivetrain. Anybody know anything...
Hindsight is 20/20 - should have started posting questions before I turned any wrenches ;)
The lift is on - I decided to go with an adjustable rear track bar rather than correction bracket (for the rear) during the installation and am waiting for that to show up to finish it off. If I am...
Exactly - I am wondering if I am going to need adjustable control arms when all is said and done, and if so which ones in particular so I can go ahead and get them ordered. Also, I should have included on the OP that I am using the rancho geometry correction bracket.
Anybody have experience with needing (or even better, definitively not needing) to make a pinion or caster angle adjustment after adding mopar lift + .75" leveling in front? (Sport S without MaxTow) If adjustments made, what was the best way to address? Thanks!!!!
edit - I also am using the...
