I just received my Cruise series of a complete set of 8 Core 4x4 control arms. I had the install instructions before they arrived and the torque specifications for the jam nuts had 2 different sizes 1 1/2" and 1 5/8". So, I ordered a couple of crowfoot wrench heads for those sizes to be able to torque them to spec. The smaller jams nuts on the short control arms fit the 1 1/2", however the larger jam nuts on the remaining 6 arms are too large for the 1 5/8".

Anyone with these arms on here? And if so, do you know what size(s) I need for the larger jam nuts? Thanks in advance for any info.

(Worst case, I can just measure them, but they're still nicely shrink wrapped and I didn't want to peel them apart til I'm ready to put them on.)

Get a big efffing adjustable wrench from tractor supply and tighten as tight as you can, then paint mark em. Did that on my clayton arms and they haven't moved. Plus, that big adjustable will come in handy at some point later.

UPDATE: Tech from Core 4x4 reached out and said they were having supply chain issues getting 1 5/8" nuts so they've been using 1 7/8". Mystery solved.

What are your thoughts on those Cruise control arms?
Thinking of getting a set, or at least the front ones, daily driver not much of a rock crawler or hardcore offroading.

They've been great so far. No squeaking but I've probably been a little over zealous on greasing them. You can upgrade them later to have RockJock Johnny joint ends like the crawl series. You just buy the rebuild kits from Core4x4 and then you have to buy the RockJock steel balls. I haven't done a detailed price analysis yet, but just quickly looking at stuff, I think you save money over getting the Crawl series initially, but don't quote me on that.

Few tips I learned during the install:

  • Make sure the adjustable ends screw in the correct recommended distance for your lift beight My front upper control arms did not screw in far enough, but they were fairly close, so I just compensated initially by making the lower controls arms longer to maintain caster. This caused a problem when I installed a SteerSmarts sector shaft brace. Caused the spring to rub on it. I reached out to Core 4x4 and sent pics. They sent me replacement ends that were the correct shorter length. Said they had some batches go out with longer ends, that they thought they had found all of them, but mine slipped through.
  • Make sure the side with the greasable hole is facing up, on the upper rear control arms. You won't be able to screw in the zerk fitting if it faces down and I think it would be difficult to grease even if you put it on before installing the atm, even using the 90 degree zerk fitting.
  • As mentioned, make sure of the actual sizes of the jam nuts, so you're covered on having the right size crowfoot head to torque them down.
  • Don't forget the anti-seize.

The larger jam nuts require a 1 7/8" wrench or crowfoot head.A tech support representative from Core 4x4 confirmed on the Jeep Gladiator Forum that due to supply chain issues sourcing the standard 1 5/8" nuts, they have been substituting them with 1 7/8" nuts on recent production runs.
