To bring this thread to a personal conclusion, I was so dissatisfied with the 18" tire options that I decided to sell the 18" wheels and instead purchased Pro Comp 7031's in 17x9 with a -6 offset. This will allow me to get into a lighter overall tire while having the proper rim width to fit a 35" or larger. For those sticking with 18's I salute you.

Which tires did you go with? I have the 18's and will probably switch to 17's for same reasons you cited.

Here is mine with the stock 7.5” overland rims on 295/70r18 Yokohama Geolander AT. Yokohama offers a 30 day guarantee that allows you to return them if you are not totally satisfied. They also have a great tire mileage warranty.
Since the rims are 7.5” wide, I added a Spidertrax 1.75” wheel spacers and 2.5” SST lift to gain the look I wanted. Also had an adjustable steering stabilizer added.

How are they holding up? Been looking into these tires. How has overall tread wear/noise been for you? Rain performance? Any additional long term info would be great.
