The main reason for 17" wheels is the huge selection and lower costs (none of the tires are cheap any more), if you want 20's then go with 20's.

But you will pay more and not have as many options.
Amen to that! I just bought 37x13.5x17 tires for $400 each, and the same tires in 37x13.5x20 would have been over $600 each. On top of that, the 17s look better.

I've seen a few that do tire/wheel comparison, I was hoping for the image generation to see what they look like on "your" jeep.
I think Tire Rack and Discount Tire do that, for the rims that they sell.

While more side wall is great for offroading ( the reason we buy these jeeps ) the opposite is tru for street driving to a point. 20" will have way less sidewall flex making highway driving a pleasure , especially on windy days. If I ever get caught up on my boat spending and home projects I would like to have a second set that were 20's for road trips. The main thing to do is decide which characteristics are more important to you. You can do both with either tire but each tire will excell in different areas
I'd agree if we were talking sports cars. A jeep has a high center of gravity and I don't care if you run 24s and rubber bands, it won't corner well enough for the big wheels to make a difference. Further for on the street I still want sidewall flex in my lifted Jeep so it rides well. Any gain you'd get from 20s on a Jeep you could get by running 45psi on 17s. Of course that ride will tell you what a terrible idea it is at the 1st pothole. At least that experiment won't cost you anything.

Is this from some site we could plug our own numbers into?
It was some website that sold wheels and tires. I can't remember what website it was now, sorry.
