New step bars/rock sliders! These are the APG 2" Square Tube Matte Black Side Armors. Super light as they're aluminum, and really liked the look of the square design to match the squareness of the JTR. They were a bit different to mount than I was used to. You basically mount the brackets to the vehicle then mount the steps to the brackets.
Before:
The Rubi sliders were super simple to remove. Take out 8 screws on the sides, 4 on the underbody, pull off. Less than 10 minutes for removal.
Next up is installing the mounting brackets, 3 brackets using the same mount points as the OEM sliders.
As I was getting ready to install the steps, noticed that there was no grip texture on the actual step part. Hmmm. Considered buying some grip tape to add later, but found some spray on bed liner in my garage. On to prep and paint:
This part took the longest of the entire install, but gave me a chance to take a break, jump in the pool, and drink a beer.
Once sprayed, on the truck they go. Super easy install, maybe an hour (not counting paint). Pro tip: do not tighten bolts until in final position and ready to completely finish. And make sure to note M6 washers vs. M8 washers.
After:
I may try and get the rear bumper on today, we'll see. Got a nice little day planned. Me and the family are heading to home Depot, maybe some wallpaper, maybe some flooring. Maybe Bed, Bath, & Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.
Bonus: since I pulled my cars out of the driveway I figured I'd take a family photo
