Ah Crud, I forgot about that. At the time I was following those threads I had a 20. Just switched to the 23 a few weeks ago.
You are in the same boat as I am now!

Looks like a quality kit for sure. Not sure if I'd be able to bring myself to make that cut though. Engine should be happier with that nice cool clean air.

Can't say I'm at my happiest making the first cut ever into my Gladiator, but having the snorkel is a good thing. I found water pooled in my stock air filter box! That and a dirty filter after only 12,000 miles. All that dust in the San Juan mountains seemed to overcome the stock system's ability to cope. I am believing this is a better setup.

Here is the finish to the snorkel project. Go to the build thread for the writeup and pics.

And in the end, I had a marvelous fitting snorkel and hood and trim pieces. It looks very nice I want to say.

And here comes the surprising part. I went for my test drive and discovered the joy of induction sound that had been mostly missing.

and

No doubt about it, it has better acceleration than before. The factory system must have had some restriction that is now absent because it just feels peppier. I was able to accelerate right up to 72 mph and lock it in there, and it cruised with more ease than it did before. It felt like it was struggling some before, but now it seems to be more willing to run at that speed. I tested it on a highway loop and netted 16.2 mpg. The previous tankful netted 15.9, so the increase is really within the margin of error.

Looks like a really nice system. I do like the way the bezel cleans up the hood cut, makes it a bit more palatable.

I didn't enjoy the cut initially, but frankly, once you've done some damage you might as well just finish the thing. The end product of the cut is not factory fresh looking like a stamping might appear, but the bezel/trim ring makes it all work.

I've been getting away with only the rough country electric steps so far. But given that I seem to be experiencing more rocky terrain that I cannot bypass, I think I need a real rock slider.
It is a hard pill to swallow because I just hate adding any weight. Many will (rightfully) say that adding a rock slider is "Good weight."
To me such a thing. Weight kills performance. So back to the bitter pill thought...
Eyeing the JCR modular units. They are advertising a weight of 144 lbs, but watching the installation vids, the gentleman seems to be tossing them around. Curious, is the 144 number a shipping weight number or the actual weight of the slider?
I have from now until July to get all that done. Have a minor trip between now and then but Jul will be the "across the top of America trip with wheeling in the Dakotas, and in and around the Tetons. and, if I can squeeze a day or two down in Colorado, I'm going there as well...
JCR...Good product?

I dont have any JCR stuff but I recall from the TJ days they build some pretty good quality stuff. It could have changed though, so take that with a grain of salt.

Hmmm, not many replies. I would think the company is pretty popular, so I wonder what's up with that. Well, I have plenty of time to pick up those sliders and maybe even get them pre-dented in the Daniel Boone Nat'l forest.

JCR was pretty popular when TJ's and Cherokee's were being heavily modded - but since the JK theres been a bunch of new options on the market. I dont think that necessarily speaks to their product, just the climate. You know, like when anything 'new' comes to market it becomes all the craze.
