2022 Mojave Owners questions

So the garage I'm intending to put the '22 Mojave in has a fairly small opening. Great space inside but I need to get in there. Otherwise I have to change my whole garage plan. Giving myself reasonable clearance I have a height of 79.5" and width of 83". I have a couple of questions for those that have actually received a '22 Mojave. I know the measurements are the supposed to be the same for the '21s so feel free to answer the questions but ultimately I want to confirm with a '22 owner.

1. I'm going to get the AEV Pintler wheels for the JL/Gladiator and [supposedly] true 35 x 12.5 R17 tires [Toyo, General, and ProComp all say the tire height is 35"]. Suspension to stay entirely stock. The stock spec height is 76.1". Before I put on my steel front and rear bumpers and rock slider extensions will the truck fit into the garage?

2. I have LoD front and rear bumpers. Front is the Signature Series Full Width @ 92Lbs. Rear is the Destroyer with the bed sliders and D-Ring mounts at 120 Lbs. The RockSlide Engineering JT Step Sliders are 225 Lbs. The ARB dual compressor is going to be mounted in front of the wheel well on the bed. With the mount it's about 23 Lbs. So I know once I put the items on I'll easily fit into the garage height wise. Is this too much weight for the stock suspension or will I need to get a spacer for how I plan to use the truck? I expect about 20% of my time will be off road, mostly fire trails and the like but definitely some climbing also so I can bag some honor badges [otherwise why spend the money on a Mojave ].

3. The biggest question for me is the side mirrors. Not sure why they list the width without the mirrors [73.8"]. When I look at the pictures and I see the vehicle from the front it doesn't look like they stick out past the front fenders. But from the rear it looks like they're out about 4 inches past the front fender. Can someone please measure how far the mirrors stick out past the Mojave front fenders?

I have a '21 Rubicon, but can confirm that the mirrors don't stick out further than the fenders. They are all but flush. Exhibits A,B, and C. Your '22 Mojave will be the same. Please excuse the dirt on my rear fender. They salted the heck out of the roads. Your Mojave will be the same width on fenders and mirrors as my JTR. They are flush on most all Wranglers/JTs, at least back to YJ. It's a big help on narrow trails to have flush mirrors/fenders. It's also what make jeeps so weird looking compared to normal vehicles. Narrow bodies, wide fenders.

I found the LOD bumpers, Warn winch and compressor added too much weight for the stock suspension. Then I added an AluCab canopy camper. Then I lifted it just for the heavier coils. Then I replaced the shocks.

You should be generally be ok with the Mojave and LOD, but if you add a winch you will hit the bump stops a lot more.

Mojaves are best off being left mostly stock unless you are going to change the suspension.

I wasn't going to say you were overthinking things until you mentioned the width.

Sure the Gladiator is taller than many cars. But its not very wide. Its actually 0.1 inches narrower than my wife's Volvo wagon.

Take the stock height, add 1" for the tres. Given the extra weight it will sag a bit from there. but either way if you work with a height of 81 inches you have plenty of wiggle room.

If the garage entry measures 86 inches tall, move on and stop worrying.

If the garage entry measures 82 inches then maybe its time to start getting serious about measuring actual Mojaves and getting really anal.

Either way, my point is that you don't need to get too particular until you know its going to be very close. At this point we have to go on the fact that you don't know the actual garage opening dimensions since you didn't mention them.

For my use, no. You get some sag with just the camper and it can probably suffice with air bags, but going Offroad you rub more and on road you get into the stops more. I usually have bikes on the back when on road (and sometimes off) so it sagged even more. The Mojave is great to drive and the ACCC is great to use, but had I known I was going to add it or any other camper, I would have bought a Rubicon.

This is with the stock 33” tires, LOD bumpers, winch and bike rack, but before the lift, air bags and swing out for the bike rack. Pretty sure the back was empty on this day. It sat significantly lower.

Thanks much for the comments. I do know my exact measurements [81"H x 91"W]. As I said in my post, I was going conservative with my measurements.

Can't begin to tell you how many "guaranteed" measurements that were off by 1/2 -3" completely ruined load plans over my 30+ years in the Marine Corps. This is exactly why I posted these questions---because I am serious.

My loverly wife is going to drive the truck occasionally which is why I had to go super conservative on my width---just trust me on this one please.

Chad, Thanks so much for the great reply---I never even thought of the off road. Makes perfect sense the mirror wouldn't stick out past the fenders.

That said, I am having a hard time forgiving you for the dirty fenders

Paul, Thanks so much for the great info, I definitely don't want to change the suspension which is the whole reason I bought the Mojave.
