I am not entirely sure how lemon law works in NJ.. I read it and it seems like they only refund your money, I am unsure what that means, and it says if they cant fix it in reasonable time (what is reasonable time)
To qualify for relief under the Lemon Law, the defect must substantially impair the use, value or safety of your vehicle, or be a “serious safety defect” which is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury if the vehicle is driven.
...
Before you can file a claim under the Lemon Law, you must give the manufacturer one final opportunity to repair the defect. A letter to the manufacturer (not the dealer) must be sent by certified mail, return receipt requested, stating that you may have a claim and that you are giving the manufacturer one last chance to repair the defect. See page 8 for a sample letter that we strongly recommend that you use.
The certified letter may be sent only after you have had at least two repair attempts for the same defect, or 20 cumulative days out of service for one or more defects
Sounds like they need to make 2 attempts (this is attempt #1). If they return it to you unfixed, they have a second try. If after that it is not fixed... you start the lemon law process and they are offered one last 3rd attempt. There is also a qualifying event of 20 days in shop.
