2026 Gladiator Mojave

Hello Everyone, Hope this post finds you doing well.
Let me start with some background;
I've been a Jeep guy for nearly 45 years.
My first jeep was a '93 YJ with an iron 4. I drove the snot outta him for over 20 years. Nearing the end of his life, I bought a '12 JKU. After building Boney II into an impressive slickrock crawler his 2012 3.6L ate itself at 80k miles at the 4 year mark... CRAP. Then I transitioned into a '24 Willys 4xe, (I live in New York State)where the battery pack would constantly put me into FORM...I hated it.
Presently, I'm leasing a '26 Gladiator Mojave. I believe the 3.6L is currently into its 6th generation... so engine bugs should be gone, but now I'm dealing with connectivity issues between my cellphone & u-connect.
I've had Gumby since mid-May and I've just completed 1k miles on him. In 500miles I'll be doing the oil change from factory fluids to amsoil Lubricants. I've added a bunch of aftermarket items to make life better in Gumby, but I'm pretty certain I'll be making an appointment with my dealership to figure out my connectivity issues.

I have a 25 Mojave and a 24 Ram 3500 and I do not use Bluetooth on either one. UConnect Bluetooth is straight ass, disconnects/reconnects when it wants to, and no amount of resetting fixes the issue on either vehicle. I use a USB-C cable in both vehicles and have no Issues keeping CarPlay going. It sucks, but that’s all I’ve found that works consistently. I reset both radios and have ZERO phones paired with the vehicles.

In some angles of light it looks steel gray in more direct sunlight it has a lite blue hue.

I tried dumping the Bluetooth(bt), but the Jt keeps trying to reconnect using bt even when I'm jacked in with the hardwired usb-c. the infotainment system worked better before jeep systems started insisting on using bt... my '24 had this bug also.... my '12 didn't use bt, so no issues with that... lol.

I had to reset the radios to factory settings and remove the Bluetooth pairing manually from the phone. The first time I plugged in I told the radio No to pairing via BT and turned the BT function off on the phone. It never tried again, even with the BT function of the phone left on.

LOL - except for differentials/axles. (and automatics, for that matter, if you knew the history around here)

But it's his to do whatever. Not mine.

Now that I have the summer off from work, I'll be able to bring my rig to my favorite mechanic, put it up on a lift, and change out the diff fluids. I'll wait out the warranty on replacement of axle grease, ATF and if the driveshaft has zerk fittings I'll pump out the old factory stuff with amsoil gear lube that resists corrosion and thermal breakdown.

A little background about being a proponent for amsoil... my Dad used to sell it back in 1974, during the CWA Strike. I personally have had it in every single vehicle I've owned since 1984.

Hopefully it is just a minor glitch in the software that they can fix with a reload or update. I just had a unique to me disconnect of Car play this weekend. Had Google maps and spotify on the screen and a disabled vehicle warning ahead flashed on the screen my music paused and it disconnected everything not reconnecting with the phone until stopping and trying a few times to reconnect everything. The only thing i could think of was the software got out of sequence somehow or since it was a dense beach area some other signals interfered with the Bluetooth connection i never thought i would use Carplay before buying the truck but being able to put a road or trail map on the screen has grown on me.

Things are just weird….. Tech glitchy, kinda like Outlook.

We were on a 10 hour trip down south running Waze and spotifiy. Granted, this is wireless carplay (2024 Mojave). I can’t remember exactly, but something in Waze caused the music to stop during voice directions and the music would never come back on (like it should)!!! It was driving us nuts!! The hubby discovered, if he plugged the phone in ….it worked fine.

And of course…. On our way home, unplugged…… it worked fine.

Same craziness with the Jeep and my Tazer. Just before going on that same trip above, the Kill3honk wasn’t working. Checked to make sure it was still enabled -YES. I didn’t have time to deal with it before the trip.
We got back from our trip and the Kill3honk is working just fine - I didn’t do a damn thing!!!

So just a quick update;
My connectivity issues were due to my own stupidity... lol, go figure.
I have these ear thingys called SHOKZ. They are earbone technology... anyway, I forget i have them on, all the time.So the jeep would stop/start connectivity randomly due to these things interfering with the signal. Now, i just turn them off when I get in the jeep, and everything works just fine. faceplam...

Thank you to everyone for welcoming me to the thread. I am learning a lot from the many different issues folks are running into, and I'm in the process of doing workarounds on preventing those same issues.
They say ya can't teach an old dog new tricks, and that might be true, but some of the old things this dog knows works pretty good even with the new technology being thrown into these new rigs.

Not trying to pick on you. Just using your experience as an example because it’s common.

I have decades in the international telecom business on both the technical and business side and I get to meet with high level folks from just about all the major OEMs. I was in Germany a few months ago meeting with the head guys who develop the tech for the cars for one of the largest high end car manufacturers in the world discussing the next 5 years and their needs. Cars are the majority of our “intelligent” business in what’s called IoT (Internet of Things).

It is a worldwide effort that cost BILLIONS of dollars a year to keep these “things” we take for granted working. Joe Rogan has it right in one of his comedy routines when he makes fun of folks complaining about a bad cellphone call, well worth listening to him for perspective.

Just for cars, If folks realized how complex it is to juggle head unit firmware with operating systems upgrades with Google and Apple updates and then add all differences in versions and intelligence in Bluetooth devices AND all the freaking competing devices folks bring into and install in their cars…. well quite frankly anytime it works I’m amazed, and I KNOW how it all works. AND OEMs don’t have the luxury of changing out your head unit every year like Apple does with phones. We buy a car and expect everything to work flawlessly for 10-15 years. And when we fail to make a phone call in a $60,000 truck it’s the car that a POS in our minds.

And for the record, and I won’t go any deeper into it, Google is the main culprit of most of our headaches including Apple issues. They are the most arrogant company in the world to deal with.
