Walked out two my jeep today and noticed my front diff was wet. Upon inspection it turns out to be engine oil fml…… I just had it at the dealer a few months ago for an oil leak from the upper pan. This time it looks like it’s coming from the driver side under the filter housing. Coincidentally I have an appointment tomorrow for the fuel pump. Read an old post about someone having a similar leak an having to have the engine replaced. Hope that’s not the case here.

I would personally be ecstatic if they gave me a new engine, I bought mine from 50,000km so no idea how poorly it was previously maintained. At least be able to make sure it was maintained properly from the start.

Hopefully it goes well for you!

So the dealer got my fuel pump replaced and said they couldn’t identify the source of the oil leak. They were thinking maybe it was some residual oil that go spilt when they did the upper oil pan seal.,…… back in December. They said they cleaned it up and were going to add dye to the oil to verify there wasn’t an active leak and wanted me to drive it for 500-1000 miles to see if it came back.

I said I appreciate you not just dismissing my concern but I know there is an active leak. I told them I wiped everything I could down the night before I brought it in and by morning it was dripping on the driveway.

They are keeping it overnight, going to drive it and then park it and see what it looks like tomorrow

Update 2: dealer added dye to the oil and drove the jeep a couple of times yesterday and let it idle at the shop today for a while and were not able to find the leak. Beginning to vent some frustration in a polite way they invited me to come out and take a look with them. I left work early and drove an hour to the dealership walked straight out to the jeep and immediately found a drip on the oil cooler. I said well there it is! 4 of them were like oh well that wasn’t there an hour ago?.

So now they are going to move forward with replacing the oil cooler suspecting it is bad and using that as an opportunity to see if the oil is coming from somewhere else. Cooler is on back order. The odd part is the oil that is leaking did not react to the UV light so I’m wondering if they either didn’t add enough dye, didn’t add at all or there is a secret passage of oil hidden somewhere.

Remembered seeing a post a while back. Someone had their oil cooler replaced because of a leak. It was the gasket between the cooler and block that was the problem when they removed the cooler.
