Hello all,

I am new to the forum as I just purchased my first Jeep about a week and a half ago. I have a 21 Mojave with 42k miles on it. I am encountering some annoying suspension noises that, of course, were not noticed during my test drive. I am hearing a clunking sound when going over bump as low speeds in both the front and the rear. I have checked the front drag link and it seems to have a little play in it when I twist the bar, but it doesn't seem too major. I tightened up the drag link joints and it did not correct my issue. I am going to get it in the air tonight and pop the wheels off to have a look around. Upon initial inspection I didn't see anything out of the ordinary as far as ball joints and such go, but I have not had it off the ground yet. My question is, what should I be looking for when I get it in the air? Are there any common issues/areas that I should check? I do not have an aftermarket lift, but I do have 35's on it. The rest is stock. Any advice is greatly appreciated as I am getting really annoyed with these clunks and such. Thanks for your help!

If I remember correctly, the Mojave shocks need to be rebuilt at 35k going by the Owners manual (don't quote me as I no longer have the Mojave)? Does it seem like a shock issue?

It seems like a clunk, metal on metal. Not sure how to tell if it shock issue.

doesn't teh Mojave have remote reservoir and hydraulic bump stops? Could be brake pad rattle. Can you make a video? :)

I dont know if I can really get a video of it as I dont have a go pro and I dont want to tape my new phone to mu bumper. I checked everything and all is tight. I greased the back of the pads and pins, still got the sound. I did notice that when I push down on the front end I get a squeak sound from the shocks. However, everything feels tight and it doesn't seem like the shocks are failing. It sounds like a Sway Bar, but the links are tight as as be. Could it be the bushing? Should I take the bar completely off and put grease in the rubber of the bushings? I am at a loss here. Thanks for the help.

So after messing with it some more, I think it's my sway bar bushing. I took a video of the shock and you can hear the noise. But I really think it's coming from the bushing.

Maybe the torque on the nut and bolt loosened up a tad bit. I had a jeep where the sway bar link nut would constantly loosen up maybe an eighth of an inch and would clunk like you are saying, over slower bumps.
Try tightening everything up again. Shock bolts, sway bar links, etc. The “clunk” might be a bolt shifting ever so slightly in the shocks mounting lug or somewhere close. When I did my suspension, I put torque seal / torque stripe across the nuts and bolt heads. Helps to visually see if there is movement in the hardware.

That sounds like a squeaking noise from dry suspension bushings. Maybe due to multiple water crossings in the past? I would suggest you get underneath with a new can of WD40, with the little hose attachment and soak every bushing involved with the suspension. As for the knock you may hear over ? Speed bumps? That could be the hydraulic bottom out stops exclusive to the Mojave. Good luck!

Ok, so I completely disconnected the sway bar and the clunk is still there. I have attached a video of the drag bar that has some play in it. I dont know how much play is normal, but there is a definite sound when I move it by hand. Thoughts?

The tie rod makes a similar noise. All nuts are tight as can be.

That’s a significant knocking noise! Is that what you’re hearing when driving?

Yep, sounds like every time I hit a bump that bar is bouncing up and down. I checked all the joints for tightness and they are all tight. I guess it's time to upgrade the drag bar.
