Hello there... I've searched the forums. I've read topics. A lot of threads seem to go on tangents before questions are fully answered. There's a lot of conflicting info on what tires will fit the stock 17 inch rims my Mojave came with. I want to upgrade (and sell...) the 33 inch MTs (LT285/70R/17C)that came with it and put on some 35 inch Duratracs. I want to keep everything stock (no spacers, lifts, etc) for now. I've been a Duratrac fan for many years...

Will the 35x12.5x17 Duratracs fit on the factory rims (first question) and not rub (2nd question)?

Things I've read:
1) The rims are 7.5 inch and you're putting too wide a tire on that.
2) Even with 7.5 inch rims, it will work, but it's pushing it.
3) The tires will stick out but A) that's ok, it looks cool or B) it will kick up rocks
4) The Mojave is 'wide stance' so it will work without other mods. True/False?

So if not the 35x12.5x17, what size would you recommend? Duratrac doesn't seem to make a 11.5 tire. Other size suggestions to get 35's? Not a tire guy...

I bought my 2021 Mojave used with 18,000 miles on it. The original owner had installed Nitto Ridge Grapplers 37x13.50r17’s on the factory Mojave Wheels. He also had installed a small leveling kit along with the Synergy wheel spacers. I ran this setup for 1000-1500 miles before jumping over to my current setup.

In my opinion, the setup drove perfectly fine on the street. It didn’t feel overly sloppy and I honestly didn’t know any better. It would probably be considered an extreme setup with 13.5” wide tires stuffed onto 7.5” rims, but ultimately it was the Synergy spacers that I wasn’t a fan of. I’ve never run spacers on anything so eventually I installed the Ridge Grapplers onto a set of Icon Rebound Pro’s and ditched the spacers. That being said, the Rebounds were still only 8.5” wide versus the factory 7.5” wide runs.

The bottom line is that a 35x12.5 wide tire should be completely OK on factory 17x7.5” wheels. Just my two cents, take it for what it’s worth.

The 35X12.50R 17 is a solid fitment for your vehicle. It will fit on the factory wheel no problem, and you can add mods without having to change tires.

It fits in the fender well so you shouldn't have to worry about rocks and debris.

Can you? Yes.

Should you? That’s up to you.

The OEM wheel is 7.5” wide which will make the 12.5” tire wear a little faster/uneven from it cupping.

I opted for a 9” wheel to be safe for my 35x12.50 tires. I don’t need any additional sketchiness in my life. I drive a Jeep as it is...

However, I did keep the OEM steel wheel for the spare since that won’t see much use (I hope).

Appreciate the replies. Despite my love for Duratracs, I've decided not to push them onto 7.5 inch rims. I've instead purchased 5 Nitto Ridge Grapplers (11.5 vs 12.5), which are a little cheaper as well. Never used them before, but they have great reviews.

Also, Discount Tire guy, I purchased from your company-- so thanks!

I've also purchased a Tazer to adjust tire size and turn off the seatbelt alarm, among other things.
