My car exploded after 26,000 miles. There is a big hole in the cylinder block. Now with the approval of Chrysler to replace it with a new engine.

But backorder, and the dealer has no ETA, has anyone had a similar experience? If the engine is backordered, how long will it take?

thanks

Totally unacceptable. I wonder if it were a JL if they'd toss a 4cyl in there. Service seems to be a thing of the past lately. Hope this gets resolved very quickly OP.

Check jasper engines, they got me a new 3.8 back when mine blew up also. Great service and they address most of the shortcomings of the current 3.6

Have them see if there is an availability of a Hemi, and you would take that one!

But you pay out of pocket.
My dealer worked with me and paid for a portion of the Jasper engine, at least the portion that their order/engine would have cost. Might be worth a pitch to your dealer to see if they'd entertain the same.

But you paid the dealer labor?

At the time, the delaer couldn't get me a 3.8, I found a Jasper shop nearby, got them to quote me a 3.8 and install, and took that to the dealer who then paid their portion of it. I don't remember what i paid out of pocket, but what the dealership paid was the full engine price + maybe 25%-50% of the labor cost.

I'm a 3.6L etorque engine, I'm really curious, how did you manage to replace a 3.8 engine. And the dealer also agreed, where are you?

This was back on my 2009, I should have specified that.. It was ~2012 when Jeep switched to 3.6's so the 3.8s were in low quantities. Im in north GA!

I'm surprised when you say replace the 3.8 lol, I just checked with Jasper and they don't have the 3.6L engine in stock right now.
