I'm selecting tires for my new Gladiator. I like the 35" trail grapplers. Can I put these tires on the stock Rubicon without mods? It looks like the stock wheels will need to be upgraded to a wider size to accommodate the Nittos.

No they'll fit just fine with no lift. Its not optimal but they are approved to fit on 7.5in wide rim which is stock. I run a 37x12.5 on my stock wheels not lift. doesn't rub.

Thanks PuddleJumper - you piqued my interest. Could I put 37s on the stock Rubicon without needing axles or spacers to make it work? It seems like that's what I saw from your build thread just confirming ...

I run a 1in spacer on OE wheels, it does tub rub hard in the rear when flexing out, but hasn't deleted them yet. a 1in bumpstop spacer would fix that. My swaybars also don't disconnect, so with a rubi you might tub rub on the front at max flex but you also might not since the rubicon stock bumpstop sit lower than a Mojave and it doesn't move. Your main notice will be gearing. Some of us are picky and immeadiately require a regear to 5.13 or 4.88. While other find 4.10 to be more than adequate. Its all personal preference. So it will depend on your comfort level. My setup I'm happy with and it only rubs under max articulation in the rear. Not while jumping and never on the road. I like to keep my center low. If the fender contact ever becomes on issue. I'd delete the inner fender before i got more lift. But to answer your question, yes you can just slap on 37s and call it a day. you'd need at least a half in wheel spacer on the front to not rub but 1/3 and 3/4 spacer require cutting the OE studs, so i went 1in. With OE +44 wheels on 1in spacer i'm somewhere at +18~20 offset which is perfect for widetrack axles.

I run the 35x11.5 Toyo AT3 on the stock Rubi wheels. No rub anywhere and the 11.5 is an optimal fit for a 7.5” wheel. That said, I haven’t seen anyone have issues running a 12.5 on stock wheels. You just might experience outer wear a bit faster.

Nitto makes a 11.5 inch 35 that works better on stock rims.

I'm planning 35x11.5 vs 12.5 on max tow with 2inch lift. Just trying to decide ot stick with stock wheel or AEV wheel.
