Not sure where you are using 4 low but if on the beach air down and you should be good in 4 hi. If crawling off road I guess is where you would need low. If you look in the manual do now exceed 25 mph if in low.
had to use 4LO at the beach this past weekend. Tried helping someone get unstuck in some very deep loose sand and I guess the sand was too much for4HI, they wouldn’t spin at all with the throttle pinned. Wouldn’t even budge. Took 4LO to get them to move.

Shifting my manual transmission Rubicon into 4L can occasionally be easy, but it’s usually a pretty tough pull. I’ve found that being in Neutral is necessary, and not having the brakes holding the vehicle, allowing a tiny bit of rocking, helps. TBH, shifting my Gladiator’s transfer case into 4L reminds me of my long-gone IH Scout.
