2020 and 2021 "appear to be" the worst, at least by my observations and reports back in 2020.

I do NOT know if this is true - it's purely "what I read" in another post, there's nothing to support it, not a thing, it's a single post, but that post suggested that part of the backorder issue is that FCA was switching to a new supplier - now, what does that mean IF, and it's a big IF, if that is true?
Does that mean for the blanks? For the final product? For the machine work?
Who knows! But if there's a lick of truth to it, it would explain a lot.
Again, ONLY BASED ON ONE PERSON'S POST!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah I understand that. Working in Manufacturing I've seen plenty of hiccups in supply chain for all sorts of issues. That said, from what I am seeing, some report having to repair *again* in an unacceptable/short time frame. It just is real concerning for a vehicle that is not very old and not abused.

I had my appt this past Tuesday with the Belgian dealer to look into and order parts for my US-spec JTW 3.6L and they scheduled me for repairs later this month. I'm praying they order the right parts, I'm trying to confirm they are. I’ll keep y’all updated on if this goes well or not lmfao

Reporting in as another person who ran into the same issue. Jeep has already been sitting for a month. I guess this means I am SOL?
Hi Ryan,
They are coming in slowly, With an average weekly demand of 2k the total backorders are still a bit over 12k still.

I just got my Left side parts in and will be doing the rebuild in the next few days. I should probably start another left side intake Camshaft thread… lol

Does anyone know why the lash adjusters all come with a little square of cardboard?

I also found this burr in the edge of one of my new rockers right out of the packaging… It easily catches my fingernail. I’m thinking this rocker will not be getting installed.

Update for my situation, months later.

Shocker, the Belgian dealership didn’t have a clue how to work on the 3.6L so I had to ship it as is…just picked it up, and already got it scheduled with the local California dealer to get figured out.

Fingers crossed they get us sorted and fixed sooner than later. Praying we’re not waiting 6+ months for the parts to come in but I’m sure that’ll be the case.

New update, it’s my right (passenger) side as well, but the dealer said they ordered the parts and expected them overnight … were planning to have it all fixed up for me to pick it up today! That would’ve been a two day turnaround 😳

I was shocked to hear that as I’ve been hearing all the drama about these lifters being on back order for months and months and months but supposedly the parts are coming.

They did call today to say the parts didn’t make it in today in time for them to be installed and for me to pick it up before closing, so it’ll be Monday if the parts come in this afternoon, or Tuesday if the parts come Monday.

I dropped it off on Weds and they were originally expecting a two day turn around. Even if it’s a week, that’s freaking fast for this issue, right?

I’m guessing they have a hookup in Cali that has more supply (we’re sorta close to LA so maybe?) or he’s wrong and they’re replacing the incorrect part(s) and it won’t be fixed.

if this is truly all fixed and back to me in under a week, I’ll be shocked and thrilled. Gotta be a record for this fix, right? 🤣

I’ll keep y’all posted.

Update number two: they called Monday saying they needed more parts and I should have it back today (Wednesday). I’m guessing they swapped the passenger side and got it all back together but it’s still ticking, so replaced the drivers side too? Or…whatever they replaced wasn’t the problem and it’s something else.

No call yet for if I’ll be getting it back today but fingers crossed we do. Even at one week, this has gotta be a record for valve tick fixed (if it’s done today) lmfao

I’m cautiously optimistic but they gave me a dealer rental while it’s getting fixed so tbh I don’t care how long it takes…as long as it’s done by them, it’s under warranty and I don’t pay shit 🤣

Been quiet cause parts were delayed and delayed so we kept the Durango rental through the weekend for our Big Bear Lake trip (wasn’t great, wasn’t bad, it was just ‘OK’). Got the call on our drive home today that our Glady was all ready for pickup! Got to her and expected a light tick still but nope! Purs like a kitten again 🙌

All-in-all, the dealer had her for 13 days and replaced both sides intake cams, rocker arms, and lash adjusters. See invoice:

I’m very happy for now, just praying this tick never comes back again. I’ll keep a mental note for all future oil changes to listen closely for the return of that god awful noise lol

I’d like to re-iterate that this has been an ongoing issue with these Pentastar 3.6L V6 motors and most dealers do not have this kind of turn around. Idk if these guys have a parts hookup or what but most people describe waiting MONTHS for this warranty work to be completed, not two weeks.

I’m chalking this up as a win for this dealer (Santa Maria CDJR) and the MOPAR parts distributors as I’m assuming they’ve figured something out with these back ordered parts. Or…they replaced them with less superior parts in which case they’ll replace them again down the line under warranty 🤷‍♂️

If they failed previously how are they less superior than the original ones.
Dealer done well 👏

Does anyone know, if the current replacement cams and parts actually resolve the issue or is it hit or miss?
if it’s only one cylinder do you still replace all the followers, what about lash adjusters?
if exhaust lash adjusters spray/lube the intake cam, what about those?

I always replace all related parts. There is a tsb about lash adjusters causing tick so apparently they have had lash adjuster issues.
Don't replace only the followers for a single cylinder.
Cam and all followers and lash adjusters and be done.
Not enough info to say the new parts are an absolute solution.
Heck, the whole issue is hit or miss.
