I have watched @RainmanRaysRepairs on You Tube for a while now. He recently took the plunge and opened his own shop.
Really think he and his family are super nice and genuine people and since he just opened the shop there is a Jeep that needs some fixes. I love that he whines a bit when a Jeep comes in, but he always does what he can. Theres a few episodes but in the latest it is obvious the back spider gears are shot and he will rebuild them if he gets some more traction for the channel. He does not do a lot of self promotion, but heck I would love to see him build the axles and like to see that Jeep run.

Smart guy, I don't know shit about tearing into engines or gears. But what more traction does a guy need than a half a million subscribers and over 200k views per video? He's well on his way to being the next Scott Kilmer! :CWL:

The way I see it every bit and every one helps.
He has made it for sure. Him and wife unit are a great team.
Problem on YT is that a lot of views dont sub or interact (comment/like)and a lot of those subscriptions are inactive. They subscribed and then did not watch for a while, so videos are not being pushed to dash. So many people have 100s of channels subbed, so the notifications and co about news or new content don't show up. Hampers growth, and interaction is thing. For example, half mil subs, 130 k views and 40k likes is obviously better than mil subs, 150k views and 45k likes.

:)

I enjoy his videos. His coverage of Hurricane Ian was pretty wild. He has caused me to buy a couple tools for my own garage haha.

Love Ray. He seems like a genuine stand-up guy. Yes, I wish he was in my town. I'd get him to do some things I don't want to tackle. I have the skills but I am too old to do some stuff anymore.

I am glad to see he is in his own small shop but I miss his videos from the last place he worked flat rate for. His "Gonzo" style of getting stuff in and out was fun to watch and it triggered the "Torque NAZI" crowd something fierce.

You do enough things often enough, you get a "feel" for things. Muscle memory, call it what you want. Build 10 SBCs and you lay the torque wrench down for the 11th.

I miss the phone
Agree, his way of getting stuff done, and keeping people who deserve it on the roads (were other mech would have been like whatever or bill them amounts not sustainable)
The triggered peeps are still out there and they are still triggered, fun to read the comments. He gets it done.
I am just happy for him and when I see him and wife unit all smiles in the shop, I can't help myself think it was the best thing. I will miss some rants, but I am sure new ones will come too. One can't turn back time and time wasted no amount of money can buy. Seems like there is a lot of quality time spent there.
