I have a Sport S so the left dimmer switch does nothing really. I wanted to add some footwell lighting and I was thinking of tapping in to that dimmer for power so I could dim the lights. Has anyone tried that?

I tapped into the footwell light to run my rock lights, that I use as approach lighting when I unlock.

I didn't use it for more footwell lighting. Finding a dimable light might be difficult.

Can you give more info on this. I’d love to add rock lights and not take up an aux switch. Potential dimmer feature would be kick ass too.

any write up/photos?

You cannot tap directly into the dimmer switch as it is not a resistive rheostat. It is a digital signal driver to the BCM that then outputs voltage to the respective lighting circuits.

I would suggest tapping into the bed lights rather than what I did. The voltage on the footwell after pressing the unlock button wasn't enough to power my rock lights. They would flash until I opened the door and footwell lights showed 12v.

I had to wire in a step up unit to step up the initial voltage to 12v. But if you tap the bed lights then I think you see 12v right away.

Thanks, that's very helpful.
