I’ve had my JTR premium softtop only for 10 months now, 11k miles. Initially the top was very quiet until 70+ freeway speeds, then I would get the flutter, and occasional rumble. A month ago or so I had my local dealership look into it, found out mine was under the first batch and had a new fabric top sent out for replacement. Since the fabric (not frame) have been replaced the top has not exhibited any of the flutter or rumble, but now the very far outsides seem to be loose. The center is very taught, but the edges that are supposed to tuck into the rain gutter keep lifting out, and now I’m getting a lot of road noise, especially at freeway speeds again. So I’m curious if there is any type of adjustment in these tops, perhaps when the dealer swapped fabric or something the outsides weren’t pulled as taught as the center? I just don’t remember my initial top ever lifting out of the rain gutter. It’s to the point I can see daylight coming in between the second and third crossbar anytime I’m above 55mph, and can reach up and stick my fingers out. Any other softtop owners have this happen? I’ll attach a picture showing where it pops up. But it doesn’t matter how many times I tuck the fabric back in the gutter, it just lifts itself up and flutters when I’m driving.

I'd be right back at the dealership, thats not right. And must really suck in a rainstorm.

Yea that’s not right at all... this premium soft top is 100 times better in regards to my late 90s and early 2000s soft tops. Sticking your fingers through and seeing light... my best top from the 90s was better than that with the upper soft doors!

I would be back in the dealer in a heartbeat, and demand a loaner so you aren’t wasting a bunch of your time.

]Thanks guys. I’ll be calling dealer tomorrow. Maybe @cassie at besttop can answer if there is any way for users to adjust the softtop to get the sides tighter?

Thank you so much. Here are some additional pictures of how much play I have with mild pressure.

Oops...thought you were talking about one of our tops on a JL or the Sunrider. Since this is the OEM top our CS team might be able to give you some pointers but this could, ultimately, be a warranty item through Mopar/Jeep. Just wanted to give you a heads up that you might have to contact your dealer.

Follow up: As recommended by besttop CS I went to my dealer and had their technician look at it, they compared to one more premium softtop on the lot and both were about the same, mine perhaps a small bit more loose. They essentially stated since it seems the same as the other one, and with COVID, they can’t get a Jeep engineer out to determine if this is normal/acceptable. So I’m on hold until all this calms down and we’ll go from there. If anyone else with a softtop can confirm if theirs also has play and can be lifted up on the sides when latched, that would be very helpful.

Hello, I just put my soft top on yesterday for the first time on my Rubicon JT. It is very tight and I am very happy with it on the fwy - both top up and down. No buffeting, no noise, no slack. I am super happy with it. I tried to pull the top up as you did, and it was very difficult. First, I could barely pinch it to pull it up, then, when I could finally pinch it, I had to pull hard to get the spacing you see and take the picture. Mine seems to be much tighter than yours, but, I just put it on yesterday for the first time, so, maybe it will loosen ?

may freeway speeds does yours lift up just in front of the sports bar? I can stick my hand over to the rail and stick a finger out of the gap above 65mph

After one year of using a used soft top, mine has play, makes noise on the highway, and lifts upand comes out of the track.
