It was the first time driving the fully loaded rig on ice in the mountains. We're running Toyo Open Country AT3s with about 1/2 tread life left. I was pleased to see it do so well. Of course, we needed to drastically reduce speed, but even going from dry to pockets of ice, it tracked really well.

These are all repeat parts that we like on our blue Jeep for the white Jeep.

..and we're back! Our trip to the lower 48 went well and we really enjoyed seeing friends and family - although we worked every day to save up our vacation time for jeep exploring. ?

While we were gone, we had some shipments come in that I'm excited to share.

First and super easy to install are the ThinSkinz door cover panels.

Our used Jeep already has some panel claw marks but these will prevent any future damage:

Well we survived a chilly, clear night camping in an ice shelter at a brewery parking lot in Anchorage, Alaska Friday night. - Thanks to the diesel heater.

If you are into craft beer, especially barleywines, then you are likely familiar with "ABC", Anchorage Brewing Company. Their best beer and arguably one of the best barleywines period is A Deal with the Devil (ADWTD.) We camped out for it last year and said no thanks to ever doing it again, but you know how things go!

The diesel heater was a game changer. Not only were we able to sleep, we actually had a sense of comfort. It was no sauna, but it was livable. 18 degrees ambient, we ran the heater maxed out for 11 hours straight and it used less than 1 gallon of diesel. I never had to top it off.

The small, aux battery that we removed from the Jeep was the power source for the heater control and blower fan. It dropped from 12.4 volts to 11.9 in about 2 hours. It was not going to make it the whole night. I ended up putting a trickle charger on it and ran an extension cord from the house/solar battery on the Jeep to keep the little one charged. The Jeep was parked too far away to direct connect the heater to the Jeep, but that would have been the preferred method.

We saw the northern lights, met up with friends we met last year, drank good beer, and had many laughs. It was a good time. OH AND WE GOT ADWTD 2023 ?

The diesel heater will be amazing at keeping the roof top tent warm based on how it did in a 6x6 ice shelter that has no floor.

Couple quick mods on the White Jeep to start the week. The Smartcap locks are said to freeze in the winter... Unless... Covers!

Also got the on-board air setup installed. Such a convenience to have on the rig, even as a daily driver.
