I bought this kit on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7FLCCMC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

It seems to be of decent quality.

I went to install it. The rails for the RH side and the front of the bed installed just fine. No issues. But on the LH side (driver's side), the holes in the rails do not line up with the pre-drilled holes in my bed. They are off by appoximately 1/8" ... and it's not consistent. Some holes are off 1/16" others are 1/8". The left and right rails are identical.

I even returned the first set and ordered a second set just in case. Same issue (and I figured that'd be the case, but it was worth a try).

That makes me wonder -- are the holes in my Gladiator actually off, i.e. was that bed side made wrong? Or is that done intentionally to make the aftermarket have to make a separate RH and LH rail?

I am considering buying a bit so I can modify the rail to fit since that's still cheaper than paying 2x that for a non-Amazon kit.

Which brings another question... this thing includes some "rings" to side into the rail to use as tie-downs. It appears you have to actually remove the rail from the truck, and remove the plastic end cap and slide these things in there. Near as I can tell, other accessories (such as the ones to hold a hi-lift jack) are the same way. Is this correct? From a theft standpoint, it's a good idea; but it's a huge pain in the ass too.

Thoughts?

I know this is a silly question, but did you flip it over 180 degrees to see if they would line up that way? Does one of the rails fit on either side without issue? If it is 1/8 of an inch I would just drill through it….

Can't flip them over, actually. In fact now that I think about it, there ARE separate L/R rails... at the rear-end of each rail is a metal tab with a hole that is designed to be screwed into an insert that you put into a hole... here it's easier to just include photos.

Get out your tape measure and take some measurements of the rails and the truck bed.
also, according to the pic in your link those rails have a slot on one end of the groove to insert the rings.

Jeep sold you a defective bed, text @JeepCares and tell them you need a new one. ??? Those rails should be the same, lay them back to back and see if the holes line up.
