I’m glad I bought an American made truck. Otherwise I would be waiting a long time for the emergency brake mechanism. Oh wait………..

Ha! Yeah I feel ya. Is the ebrake mechanism American made? Like, our trucks are made here but there’s a shortage why? Oh yeah, because we cant get chips from overseas.

Funny how when you talk to people, they’re like yeah I only buy American made. Cool, I’m all for American assembled and giving our citizens jobs. But how do you feel about the parts not being American made? Lol

Our trucks are assembled here. From content sourced around the globe.

The term is "domestic content". How much of the value of a car is actually made in the US.

If you google and look at the list, there is some funny irony. The car with the most domestic content sold in the US is the Toyota Camry. Second is the Honda Accord. Ha.

I pulled the door panel off my 2007 Volvo S80 to change speakers and noticed that the glass said Made in Romania and the Door panel was made in Croatia.

Some Volvo S60s are actually made (as in assembled) in China.

I have a John Deere tractor with a factory front end loader. The major cast uprights of the loader have “Made in China” cast right in them.
I also have an Indian motorcycle, and my Gladiator, they are all proof it is a global economy, whether we like it or not.

An AMG Benz is made in Mexico!!??!!

I hope the engine is assembled in Germany.
I wish it was but no. I think it's just a tuned up version of the standard 2.0

Truth be told--it's been incredibly reliable and their have been zero quality issues interior or exterior...wait that's a lie. The Rear window water hose keeps failing but that's it.

So much quality and reliability is engineered in from the beginning that where its made has less impact than people think.

I don't know if it's even possible to find a truly made in [HQ country] vehicle anymore. My old Toyota truck was made in San Antonio, and I think I read that the most made in the US truck is the Honda Ridgeline.

I think you are right about the Ridgeline. Honda opened up an engine and transmission factory in the US 20+ years ago. That is when the domestic content of their cars reached levels higher than many domestic makers.

Both the Hemi and Pentastar are built in Mexico. Including the Demon and Hellcat motors. I'm not saying all of these engines come from Mexico. But some do.

Which is better:

A truck designed in the U.S., with parts from other countries, that's assembled here, and then the profits stay here...

or.... a truck designed overseas, built here, with parts from here, and then all the profit goes back overseas (Toyota/Honda)?

I think that's a tough question to answer if you're a patriot. If you're not then it doesn't matter.

You can go on LinkedIn and search for FCA/Ford/GM employees, you will see that many are "foreigners" or immigrants. They may be American citizens though.

This is not true, most manufacturers have design/R&D teams in North America.
