Thanks for starting this thread! I'm really excited about your product. I just need confirmation that it will work with the soft top and not cause any rubbing when the roof is opened and hanging out of the back. I'm very close to placing an order!

Also curious about the smart kitchen, is the stove integrated in the fold down table? What type of stove is it, and what fuel does it use?

First, thank you so much for your kind words and interest in RSi. We greatly appreciate it.

Below is a profile shot of a Gladiator with the soft top open. Due to all of the COVID issues, we are a couple of weeks behind on our fitment for the cap with the soft top. With that said, from everything we have seen, it appears that the top should rest above the plane of the SmartCap roof, thus negating any interference or rubbing.

As for the SmartKitchen, we’re currently integrating a Suburban two-burner propane stove into the fold-down unit, along with a slide-out cutting board. There is an integrated supply hose with a regulator that is long enough to reach the ground where a propane tank may be placed.

Let us know if you have any further questions and we will update this thread with posts once we have completed our soft-top fitment.

We are honored to be joining this thriving community and to get the chance to interact with you. From our inception in 2007, we've been driven by a passion for building smarter truck beds. Whether working with commercial fleet managers or individual truck owners, we're consumed with dreaming up ways to get the most out of a truck bed. So to have the chance to interact with you, fellow Jeep and truck enthusiasts, is very exciting to us.

As we are new to North America, it’s probably good for us to give you a little history of who we are and what we do.

RSi, which stands for Rock Solid Industries, started in 2007 in South Africa out of the garage of our founder, Michael Voss. The company got it starts manufacturing truck bed liners and slowly diversified into developing truck accessories for commercial fleets.

In 2012 we brought to market the SmartCap—the world's first modular designed stainless steel truck cap. The SmartCap was born out of the belief that a truck cap should be built from steel, just like a truck is. It shouldn't shatter like a fiberglass vase. It should be able to earn its scars the same way your truck does—one rugged adventure after another. And if you do damage your SmartCap, simply fix the panel or replace it.

Over the years we have continued to refine our SmartCap design, and in 2019 came to market with our new SmartCap EVO. The EVO took a whole different approach to how the cap could enhance the look of a truck, while also providing increased access to your cargo. Our new GullWing glass doors offer approximately 17% larger openings than most fiberglass caps.

We also felt a truck cap could do so much more than just create a contained protected space for your cargo. The same way Thule redefined how we use the tops of our vehicles, we could develop a system of components that plug-and-play with the SmartCap to let you build your truck bed to truly fit your life.

In 2018 we brought to market our SmartTray bed replacement system. Whether you're into creating the ultimate overlanding machine, ranch, or farm truck, the SmartTray offers unbeatable versatility while also maximizing the space in and around the wheel wells for cargo storage. But that's just the foundation. Add a set of SmartSides to the SmartTray, and you get truck bed containment with flexible access to your load. Place a SmartCap XL on top of the SmartTray, and you instantly gain 72 cubic feet of spacious, protected storage and the absolute ultimate access to your bed and cargo.

Over the past 13 years, RSi has grown into a team of 280 people, working out of an 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility. Our products are now sold in over 26 countries, including the United States and Canada.

Regardless of whether you decide to include us on your next truck build or not, we just love seeing people get the most out of their trucks and look forward to talking with you about your build. If there is ever anything you need from us (answers to questions, advice, great Traeger recipes, or good jokes:)) we are here for you, so please don't hesitate to ask.

Yours,

The RSi SmartCap Team

This cap is the perfect complement to the Gladiator...and much like the truck, it is almost everything I could possibly want or need at a price that is hard to swallow, but understandable. Hopeful that this Pandemic clears out so I can order one.

it does look like the cap will fit with a soft top just fine....but I have to wonder just how possible it will be to remove and install that rear window with the cap on. Great work RSI

That is a nice looking cap. Is the main difference between the EVO and EVOc, the side windows?
Thank you for the kind words! Actually, there are a few more differences between the two SmartCap models. The EVO Sport that you see on our Gladiator posts comes off-the-shelf in matte black and has bonded automotive-grade glass on the Gullwing, front, and back doors. The Gullwing doors have vent windows and the front window comes with a standard cab slider.

The EVOc (Commercial), comes off-the-shelf in white with double-walled stainless steel Gullwing doors for maximum rigidity. It has a rubber-mounted front fixed window and rear window. We also have an optional SmartScreen that you can add to your EVOc that goes on the back window for the ultimate truck bed security. The SmartScreen can also be easily removed when you need to clean the glass.

Hope that helps. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Curious why stainless rather than aluminum? Also, it would be interesting to see a component that would replace the rear half of the factory hardtop, or the entire hardtop, and allow for a continuous space front to tailgate.

It would be virtually impossible to have a continuous space front to back due to the nature of truck design. The cab and the truck box move at different rates as the truck flexes over varying surfaces, and would simply destroy any sort of joint over time. Unless you got really fancy like an articulating bus style rubber or something, but you would have to redesign the entire top/roof for that to work, and would almost certainly be cost prohibitive.

@RSI North America Inc do you have any actual photos of the Gladiator with the Smart tray, no smart Cap. Can’t seem to find any, not a rendering please. Thanks.
