Need opinions on this. The wrap around windshield was applied to the new vehicle by a dealership vendor. The wrap isn’t the problem though. It’s the windshield moulding closest to the hood. I’ve had the vehicle since after Christmas and for some reason I just noticed this “defect.”

I can’t tell if the person installing the wrap may have cut it and decided to clean it up by trimming or if the moulding is flat of misaligned from the factory. The windshield is original.

is it a cause for concern? How do you think this might have occurred? I cleaned it with a qtip so color difference exist for that reason.

edit: I’m not referencing the obvious notch in the center. I know that’s where it’s put together. Look to the right of that. There is a swooping upwards gap.

I just had my windshield replaced and the tech was nice enough to let me watch the whole process. The actual seal is above the area of your concern. And, since it's at the bottom, it should allow any moisture to escape. Don't be too concerned about it, just a cosmetic nuisance now that you've noticed it.

But how about that giant gap, where the seam is supposed to connect? I would at least put a dollop of silicone sealant in that gap

So what was holding the moulding in place?

Yeah. Definitely doesn’t look right.

The moulding comes attached to the windshield. The seal itself is behind the black perimeter on your glass, and is applied by the installer with something similar to a caulking gun.

I'd leave it alone until your first windshield replacement. Then see how it looks after they've done that.
yeah. I know that’s coming sooner or later. lol.
