I'm thinking of getting one but wondering if anyone has actually driven on one for a year or so and noticed any improvement in mpg, performance, etc? I'm not focused on crossing deep streams; rather I'm looking for a cleaner cooler air intake solution that might improve my JT.

And if you drove yours through a carwash, did the side mounted sprayers fill your airbox with water?
thx

Not really going to get any performance increase from this. Mostly its a way to get the air intake up and out of dusty air and from the splashing.

Had mine on since they released. I wouldn't say I gained performance, but peace of mind. It's nice knowing you won't flood your engine as easy (which I've done in my JKU:CWL:). I wash my own cars but I don't avoid the opening at all, it's not enough water to matter. There is actually a small drain hole with a valve included, you could open it during car washes if you wanted.

So I gather this is a mod that looks good, but has negligible airflow benefits unless I’m waist deep in water.

Cold air intakes don't improve fuel economy. 99% of the time you drive, you have a throttle plate restricting most of the intake.

The FI system meters fuel based on the mass of air being ingested. It doesn't matter if that air is achieved with a wide open throttle and a huge obstruction or a mostly closed throttle and no obstruction.

Even modest improvement sin power are only at full throttle at high rpm. so its not going to be something you notice.

Accept that reality and buy it for the sound or look and you will be happy.

Purpose of all these snorkels are only for water fording, that's it, no intention to improve air flow to the intakes for performance gains.

Now for those who have used this RR, is it waterproof enough for water crossings? Why I'm interested.

OP is asking about the low rise AmFib, which is actually at the same height as the stock airbox intake. It just looks cool, offers nothing at all for water fording, cool air, yadda yadda.

Admittedly, cool enough that I want one and as soon as I have $600 burning a hole in my pocket I will probably get one. But no matter what it's just decoration.

True, I'm only interested in the complete high mounted snorkel on this kit. I suppose works well but still don't have any positive inputs yet. Anybody confirm?

It does draw cool air because it's taking air from the cowl OUTSIDE of the engine bay. It's a "true" CAI unlike a simple K&N filter swap, for example.

Edit to add: it also removes the smaller stock air intake tube from behind the grille, incase you didn't know you even had one there.

Thx but still didn't get my answer yet. I'll be crossing the lower Kern river next month (if there is any water left LOL) and need to know about the high mount. Not concerned about CAI effects.

The high-mount half closes the side hole in the cowl with a rubber cover, then the plastic lid comes off the top and the high-mount sits on top with 4 screws. I also have the high-mount I just don't use it. If you're super worried about deep water also remember your electronics and exhaust still aren't protected.
