I have the bestop version. I got it for weekend hunting trips so I can pile coats and rifles on top of heavy cargo without worrying about being visible or blowing out. I was tired of throwing everything in the backseat with passengers on rainy trips. Of course, there is no security other than keeping stuff out of sight. I don't necessarily need the security for what I use this for and I don't like the semi-permanent hard toppers. I love that I can have it hanging on a wall in the garage out of the way within 10 mins. Using the back window is a pain on this version though

At first I was thinking you were some kind of clown car magician because I recently hauled 5 stock steelies and they barely fit. Then It occurred to me that I was only using 2/3 of the bed due to my trifold tonneau. Duh! ?
That’s still pretty good under a tonneau. I do like clown cars. I once fit a disassembled trailer inside a Chevy Volt, with no damage to the car. It was not a comfy drive though.

How about I randomly have a different picture of your Jeep on my camera roll… It must’ve came up while I was searching softoppers. Yours looks very good.

The height difference looks like it will actually work out for me since my rack looks like it should fit right over it without modifying the uprights.
Nice! I just started following you on Instagram. You liked one of my posts there before. :like:

To those of you who have Softopper installed, can you tell me if a BedRug would also install with this or would the Softopper mounts be in the way?

I just installed my Bedrug about 2 weeks ago, and no, the arms for the Softopper do not interfere with the Bedrug. They are close to the side of the bed, but you can sneak the Bedrug behind them.

nice! I'm researching Softopper and Bestop Supertop right now for my planned cross country - Pennsylvania to Yellowstone and back trip in July/August 2022. Need more space for a 17 day trek - 10 days camping and 7 in hotels/AirBnBs. Leaning toward Softopper for price and word of mouth (inter webs cult following). Also researching cargo glide vs bedside if anyone has any opinions. PFA.

There's a 3rd option coming soon, too. I'll have to find out the name, but it looks promising. Side windows and no Velcro on the tailgate.
And there's dozens of bedslides on Marketplace and CL, but not many for our 5' beds

FYI: Bestop owns Softopper now.

I love the look and quality of the Softopper - why I purchased a second one! The fabric looks like the factory soft top and for me completed the look.

Check out fas-top.com as well. We have their “solo” model soft topper. Been very happy with it. Solid construction, family business, and it shipped months before bestop or softopper would have. The only issue I’ve had is that it interferes with the mopar bed rails. They’re working on an update to solve that though.

Seems like the bestop is the tallest, can anyone confirm that?

Does anyone have pics of where the topper clamps on to the bed? When I did the DIY trail rail, I notched it to be able to use my tonneau cover clamps. Anyway, the Softopper can be had with regular bed clamps or a mounting system for the rail and I’m just not sure what’s the better option for my application.

Your 1-5/8 unistrut will have to be cut out if you get the standard clamps. I have 7/8” strut mounting my Highlift and I had to shorten it for the tailgate end clamp. There are only 3 factory screws holding it now.

Sorry I don’t have a photo of the rail. I’ll get 1 when I go out today.

Congrats. You’ll love it. I had to load up a tall snow blower a couple of weeks ago, and it took me two minutes to lower the top forward and out of the way. I would have needed the cargo carrier or a trailer if I had a hard top or a rack.
