I went on line to look for Buzzards roost in NC on line. Seems like Google maps identify Buzzards roost in a few locations. My wife and I are looking to go to Hellen, Ga. and Asheville in mid to late October. Though we might take a side trip. Can you better identify the location you are referring too ?

Looks like the official road name in Harmon Den Rd. in Clyde, NC. The road/trail is numbered 288.

Thanks for the video and trail info ! Going to see if we can take a day for a good trail ride and scenic views.

I never heard of Buzzards Roost but know Harmon Den Rd. That is a gravel forest Rd. Nothing challenging there. However, Hurricane Creek is right around the corner. That is worthy of a scenic trip with a small river crossing or two. I have done Hurricane Creek several times and it's a nice change from serious rock crawling. The local USFS campground, Harmon Den Horse Camp is a typical USFS primitive campground with a vault toilet and while it caters to the horse crowd, is a decent place to pitch camp. There is a decent network of easy trails in the area and a side trip to Max Patch is a must if you have never been there. It can be a fun weekend.

Approaching Hurricane Creek from I40 WB is tricky. Right after MM8 as you are heading down hill there is a bend in the highway and a guard rail. You want to be in the breakdown lane and at the end of the guard rail, turn into the trail head.
