looked into a 5.7 manual swap. It seemed like more than enough power to give my truck the extra oomph i wanted. Plus regular gas versus premium for the 6.4 was a positive

kept getting pricing back that was more than a 6.4 automatic swap. Well the 5.7 is a cheaper engine, and they reuse the 3.6 manual trans (vs the 6.4 which gets a new automatic) so it just felt like less engine for more money which I didn't like the idea of. I think it's one of those things where so few people are doing it you gotta pay extra for their experience.

Back when I was still considering these things, i think i would have pulled the trigger if it could have been done for 28 or less all-in. Since that time, the wife got pregnant again so my interest in an engine swap has been pushed way down the list.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like Dakota customs can do the 5.7 and 6.4 with the manual
  • 5.7L with Factory AL6 Manual - $29,560 (Upgraded Clutch)
  • 6.4L with Factory AL6 Manual - $33,060 (Upgraded Clutch)

when I have the $$$$$, gonna get a used rubicon to 392 swap with a stick

Looking for feedback as well, like which gearing works best as well
Curios why the 6.4 compared to the 5.7? Do you think it's worth it having to run 93 octane on the 6.4 with only a little but more power and worse fuel mileage (not that mpg's really matter).

I had a Ram Hemi prior, which was fun, and some bolt ons (afe shorties, y-pipe, catback, CAI, Moe’s 87mm tb, hellwig rsb and Bwoody endlinks), and while it was fun, also remember driving a 6.1 and riding shotgun in my cousins Hellcat Redeye.

Personally, Im a modder who wants “moar powa baby!”, and I run 93 regertless, so silly meme slogans aside, extra $4-5k is worth it. Your Mileage My Vary, but in my eyes, you’re gonna spend that much, whats extra bucks per fill up and why not swing for the fences

if this swap were $4k total vs $10k, be one thing, but for the price of a used TJ-early JKU, dont see where a 5.7 and regular still make sense personally, but again, just my opinion

so with that said, next logical upgrade would be a lighter vehicle with a bigger engine and a manual instead of an automatic

also forgot to mention I drove Mustang GT’s and rented a Camaro SS Vert in Cali ages ago, so really got a NFS, plus my mom owns a Range Rover Sport with a Supercharged V8.

Again, at those prices, scrounge up a bit extra and get the 6.4 vs the 5.7, no replacement for displacement, plus again, personally always run 93/94 to begin with
