I just picked up a 2020 JTR and it came equipped with the mopar performance exhaust. It was neat at first, but it might be a touch too loud for my taste. Option one is to obtain a stock exhaust and toss it on (I put up a WTB, or if someone has one local to CT). Option two is to "modify" what i have to tame it a bit. My thoughts are to remove the tail sections and remake them with a small resonator (If theres room) and turn downs just behind the bumper. I think it should help, but curious if others have dabbled with trying the same.

I did not know that was an OEM option for the JT.

I would offer to get together with someone to do a swap. Or ask him to pay a nominal amount.
Put an ad in the classifieds. You might be surprised at what comes up.

You are close to both NYC and Boston. Someone will be willing to drive a couple of hours to get a deal.

Its too bad I have ZERO interest in this. Because I'm in Old Saybrook regularly visiting family. ha.

The idea of a slow as molasses stock Gladiator driving around with a loud exhaust doesn't make sense to me.

Yea, i was initially thinking a trade would be best, but I dont really have the capacity/time to support having two trucks apart in my yard at the same time haha. I figure if I can locate a stock exhaust, I can get it on there in my own time and then sell off the mopar exhaust in a leisurely fashion.

Or modify what i have, hah.

One other idea.

Reach out to a local shop, Monroe muffler, etc. See if they will do the swap. Get an estimate of the money involved. Line things up. Make an appointment that works for both of you and the shop. Bring both trucks there, they swap the exhausts.

I would bet that someone would be willing to pay for the shop work to get a $1700 exhaust for free.

Just a thought.

Realistically though. You live in Haddam, not Hamden. Pull into a field and do the swap there. Ha.

Brainerd's Garage in Branford would definitely do something like this.
I'm also guessing that Monroe Muffler in Old Saybrook would be willing to do it.
Auto Service of Old Saybrook would definitely do it. Bill Atwood is a huge gear head and all around great guy.

Good luck.

Thanks all for the input. I realize whats on there has value, so cash on the tradee's end would be encouraged if were talking a OE exhaust. That said, I think the tips on this thing create a "trumpet" of sorts. Each side has a 2.25" pipe wrapping around the spare with a basic slip joint. I may try two generic turn downs and fab up a quick hanger to see if it helps. Shouldnt be more than 30 bucks in materials and I wont have modified the Mopar tips at all. I have experience with turndowns quieting down a noisy exhaust, so i dont know why the same concept wouldn't work here.

All else fails, I think ill purchase/install the dynomax quiet crawler and resell the Mopar exhaust. I should come fairly close to breaking even.

Just wanted to update the crowd here. I ended up finding a killer deal on a Dynomax Quiet Crawler. Their 39541 kit is significantly cheaper on RockAuto than anywhere else i could find. I can thank a random exhaust review video on youtube for the idea to look there. I paid 443 with tax and shipping (dont forget the easily googlable 5% discount). Every place else is around 538 plus tax, so I saved 100+ going through rockauto. Only downside is that they have a couple days delay in shipment. Oh well, the savings is worth it. I should be able to get pretty close to breaking even selling the mopar exhaust.

I am in a similar situation if anyone near the coast in Al is interested in a Injet 3" exhaust or has a stock exhaust available let me know.

For what its worth, I pulled the mopar exhaust and installed the Dynomax kit with little issue. It took about two hours start to finish. I did prebuy a new clamp for where it attaches to the cat section. I am glad I did because I had to cut off the already reused stocker. Other than that, it was a pretty easy install.

It is MUCH quieter, which I appreciate more than I thought I would. It still has a bit of grumble to it, so overall I am super happy. Sold the Mopar exhaust this past weekend for 600, so I can put 150 into more modifications!
