Just got a ‘21 Gladiator. Has anyone tried the clearlids product? Is it water tight? Any problems? Does it increase noice significantly? I live in the Chicago area. I know they seem a little spendy....

Also, my truck has a black interior with black headliner. The front roof panels are white on the inside (With a black headliner). Has anyone considered painting the inside of the front roof panels to match the headliner and the rest of the interior?

There's some pics over in this post of the inside painted: https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...-touch-up-of-outside.20863/page-3#post-620894.

Thats pretty cool.

polycarbonate will probably be pretty close to fiberglass noise wise, maybe a little louder. It will be more durable than fiberglass from a breaking standpoint; but id ask what kind of anti scratch coating/film/or treatment they give it. Untreated poly carbonate will surface scratch easily and subsequently get hazy.

Hey Glad1. I’ve had a ClearLidz on my JT for about two weeks now and was a little under impressed with it. My wife bought this for us to enjoy the sky on those cold months when taking the top off isn’t an option. Here’s my list of pros and cons:

Pros:
1. Material quality is excellent
2. Fits securely with no noticeable leaks so far (already in torrential downpours, sleet, and snow conditions with temperatures in the teens)
3. Lights the interior well on sunny days

Cons:
1. Ridges distort view through top (may serve a structural purpose)
2. Multiple small bubbles from what I’m guessing was the molding process distract from the view as well.

The top is tinted but I found myself still needing sunglasses to drive comfortably. If you’re looking for a well-fitting, semi-transparent top just to allow some light into the cab, then this will suit your needs fine. If you‘re interests lie in more of a sun roof with a view, I’d recommend exploring other options.

Kinda confirms what I was thinking when I stumbled on this one day. Polycarbonate isn't probably going to be the best material for a clean outside view. It'll let plenty of light in, but it will not be too clear, and perhaps even tend to yellow.

I would like to see someone offer a kit to take your freedom panel and cut tempered glass panels into it.

A lot of folks do this with our Hothead Headliners and I think they look pretty sharp.

For anyone wanting to paint their top before installing any headliners, we recommend leaving the area the headliner would be covering, bare (unpainted). This will ensure the best adhesion to the fiberglass top. There are too many various paints on the market and we're not confident they will all properly adhere to the adhesive. Plus, if you have to remove the adhesive for any reason, it will likely remove the paint it's stuck to. If anyone has any questions, I'm always happy to help.

I just installed a Clearlidz top on my '20 Gladiator Overland two weeks ago. Love the natural light available in the cabin now. It installed very easily and doesn't seem to be any more noisy than the fiberglas top. Initially had some wind noise from the passenger side however after adjusting the top it has improved.

Since we're in Michigan I'm not too concerned about getting any blinding sunlight during the winter however I can see where it might be too much in the summer.

I have no bubbles that are distracting.

The cost is pretty high however it's pretty cool to have the 'open' feel without removing the tops.

Installed my Clearlidz a couple of weeks ago. Working out the wind noise. As an experiment, I added a washer under the front four hold-downs along the windshield so they pull down on the lid a little harder. So far I think it helped some, Not excessively noisy. I like the look and the light in the interior. I will see what it‘s like in the summer.

Had my ClearLidz top on for a couple months and unfortunately noticed rain leaking in from the passenger side. The water seems to be coming in from section the two parts that secure the top down (where you insert the hand screws). I’m gonna apply some clear silicone to see if that helps, but I’m pretty disappointed spending over $1000 and having to combat rain after only a few months of use.

I went to their website, and you can't see the price until you are ordering them. It just says $1100-3800.

It was 1300 for mine. It was a judgement call like every other spend. If the value isn’t there for u, don’t buy it. I come on the forum to share and get info to help me enjoy my Jeep.

I didn't say you made a bad choice. I simply referred to the usage of the website. I felt they should have just listed the cost depending on the option.
