well there is some kind of difference. otherwise they wouldn't state any of that. And how would one know its working? and not just continuing to run on its stock profile? IS there a way to check that its actually running outside the stock set range? or do you have to get the switchable option and do it manually?
I did have to use a wiring diagram for my specific jeep as the one provided by them was incorrect. Maybe that’s the difference?

I can confirm it’s working because I can hear the fan at idle, which I never used to before, and I no longer get over 206°. Whereas before I’d see 230 sometimes. I can assure you it is working as it should in my top-connector GPEC5.

Mine has the GPEC5 with the connectors on top and I’m running the fan controller just fine…
What engine do you have.
This is the first time I have heard of a top mount ECU.

They made the change several years ago, but it wasn't consistent. The older unit still showed up in some trucks. There's a lot of information in the Forced Induction section. It had a big impact on those doing Tunes and adding Superchargers.

Wish mine had the older version!

They may have adjusted the temperature thresholds on newer models. I now have a '23 HA that I got in February. The fan seems to run more than it did on the '20 Overland I had. It will be interesting to see what it does on the next trip over the mountain. The oil temperature on the old one would hit 230 just before the top of the pass.

What’s work?
Vented hoods are only effective if the entire hood is A. Removed completely or B. 75% is opened up, aside from that with anything smaller such as small vents heat saturation will outpace vents abilities. I have always run vents in hood. My ZJ has 4 of them, 2 over cooling package and 2 towards center. The reason they are there is to shed heat mainly with engine off and to some degree @ idle. When the engine is off you can see the heat poor out of the vents.

I'm genuinely surprised that with everything that can be done via a Tazer, turning the fan on at a lower temp isn't one of them.

Temp outside = 88 F, coolant 210 F (dash gauge), oil 220 F (dash gauge). At 65 MPH temp below vent 137 F, 40 MPH 145 F, 30 MPH 150 F, stopped 175 F. I had good correlation between speed and temp below the vent, higher speed lower temp. There is a probe sticking out of the vent into the outside airflow, and a probe affixed below the vent. When stopped the temp probe inside is 175F outside probe gets near 160. Any speed above 5 MPH outside probe is below 90 F.

You guys want to really lower your engine and oil temps.
Install the RPM Extreme JL Fan controller.
I have his old version on my Willys witch Idles the fan at 15% fan speed keeping air moving through the engine compartment at all times. Running it for over a year now.
I have his new version on my Wife's Rubicon witch comes on at 195 at 15% fan speed and turns off at 190 degrees. In stalled last week.
I have seen a reduction of 25 degrees on both oil and coolant temps.
Jon can program the module any way you like.
Here is More info on how it works.

This has been a game changer and I will be happy to answer any question you may have.
The link will fit a 2023 rubicon? Not sure what options are needed

You don’t really need any options unless you want manual control over the fan. You can have them add a wire that gives you medium or high fan speed by either supplying + or - to the wire. I elected no overrides.

it has to be spliced in. It’s not hard at all IF you’ve done wire splicing before. I just peeled back some insulation and wrapped the new wire around the target wire and added a drop of solder to hold it on.
