I see on here once and a while, people talk about using smaller diameter spares. I’ve always been under the impression that running two sizes on the same solid axle differential will wreck your gears, due to more rotations of the axle on the smaller tire side. Comments?
I think off road such a small discrepancy between the two has little to no impact especially if adding or removing air from one or the other is possible. On road it’s not a perfect solution but I’m not concerned about getting a flat that’s too bad to plug and fill in less time than I could swap a spare on. I hit a mangled shopping cart at 70 mph two weeks ago and suffered zero damage to the bfgs. Even if I cut a tire down and it was catastrophi, I could certainly drive slowly on a mismatch long and slow enough to buy a new one

I agree that small discrepancies like 1/2” or so due to wear or psi differences wouldn’t likely hurt a thing. I’m talking about when people use 33” spares for 37” tires, or 35’s for 40’s. I see people either doing it to save money on a 5th tire, or to fit something smaller in the spare well. One of my readons for stopping at 37” is that I know I can get my 5th one under there with a bent track bar, but that’s probably as much as will fit.

Sorry…one more question. Are you running wheel spacers?

I just traded my Mojave for a Rubi. the Mopar lift is getting installed Monday. I also have 1.75 inch wheel spacers and Clayton truck bars going on. My current tires are 315/70/17. I am just second-guessing the wheel spacers.
Yes I am. Synergy 1.75”

Yea pretty much...and ironically I really dislike all of these tires as they just don't perform well here in PNW despite their popularity. I REALLY don't understand the love for KO2 as they are literally the worst tire I have ever run in the rain but I digress lol (flame suit on).

But yea, what got me looking at 38s was the Baja Pro XS...really knarly looking tire but they would have even more compromises so likely not going that route.

Cheers
I agree. I've always said anyone who says how great ko2s are has obviously never experienced a good tire.

I need to see this rig before I leave CO.
I’m still planning on the July trip, but I may be coming up from AZ for it. I’ll likely be moved prior
Now it’s planned for this month. More suspension parts delays. I really need to stay off this forum though. I just ordered RSE steps from a sponsor at a good price. I think I need to stop if I want to stay married. :)

Lol fair point. I generally see rave reviews for them coming from those living in dryer climates where just about any tire does ok. KO2s have the 3PMS symbol too, which did not translate to good snow/ice performance for me either. About the only benefit I see with them is they are lightweight...

Cheers

I had KO2s on my JK and before that TJ. They did fine for the minor off roading I did but tended to hydroplane easily on wet roads/rain. They did wear very well. My OE Falkens are MT and I did rotate every 5k. But now at barely 30k miles and they are pretty much done for. I will say these Falken MTs never once gave me any problem or concern on wet roads/rain.

So I am trying to find a aggressive AT or hybrid. I am less concerned about wear than I am about wet road/rain performance and of course looks :)

I'd say you are in the right thread then ;-) Can't wait to get my Baja Boss MTs mounted! The ATs look awesome as well!

Cheers

Wow is $420/tire really considerEd “on sale”?!
I got them in December from 4wp for $320 per tire, but it was a 1 day sale. 420 was the regular price at that time.

if you find a deal like that again let me know
I certainly will. It was one day of a 12 days of Christmas sale. I called and they had 10 in stock. I payed half immediately and drove 2 hours the following day to get 5 of them. Not even mounted yet. But couldn’t pass up a 600 savings across all 5, including tax.

I have the New Baja Boss AT in 37x12.5x17 and they are pretty quiet. My only complaint was 1 tire was hard to balance but America's tire just ordered another one and switched it out when it came in. Black Rhino Chambers are the rims

What lift and shocks are you running? Love the look!
