The X4S delivered on Sunday, packaged really well. Install was quick and easy. I had to clean out some spray in bedliner material from the bolt holes, and cut away a plastic trim piece from the side rail to reveal the factory installed threaded holes. The aluminum side rails are not as heavy as I would like, but overall happy so far with the X4S.

I used the provided thick gasket on the front wall, but there was also included smaller rubber gaskets. I did not find what those were for. I thought they might be to place under the side rails of the bed cover, but the flange already has a gasket material. If the side rails leak, I guess I will take it apart and install the rubber gasket under the side rails.

Here are some pictures of the install. I bought this bed cover for the T rail feature. I am looking to add a versatile rack above for kayak / lumber hauling. Given the thin side rail material, I won't trust it with much load weight. The inside-to-inside dimension of the T rail is about 55 3/8", +/- 1/16". There is a little over 17" of height clearance under the bed cover.

Got mine yesterday, plan on installing it this weekend. I was wondering about the seal on the front wall? My line-x is sprayed on the top part, wondering if I still should use the foam or not?

I put the foam on top of the sprayed in bed liner and have had no issues.

Agreed, I wiped the bedliner with alcohol as the instructions suggested, and stuck the thicker gasket right to the bedliner material.

Just didn't use the smaller gaskets... yet

For anyone wondering about the weight capacity, I asked Bak. Here is the response:

What a PITA, just opened my X4s, first piece I pulled out was the left rail, and it’s Broke 🤬. There is a cheap little piece of plastic on the end that just fell out of the bag. If it can’t handle being shipped without breaking, then I don’t see it holding up to daily use. Sitting on hold for 20 minutes now and see what there solution is. ALEX WHERE YOU AT?

Yep, there are some plastic parts on this bed cover that will probably not hold up. I rolled mine shut today, and a plastic end piece on the cover popped off. It snapped right back on, but seems loose and will probably fly off some day. Not that it is very tight to begin with, but if this part pops off, there will be a leak at the corner.

Mine was the pastic piece on the rail that broke off, no snapping it back on. I can’t believe that they took the time to design and machine the rail and then put a flimsy ass piece of plastic in the end. 🤬

Ok, so they sent out new rails, and guess what? Both are Fing bent also. 🤬
Does Bak not QC their $hit. The only rail that will line up without forcing it, is the original passenger side rail. I don’t want to try and bend or force it into place as the original passenger side lines up perfect. I’m about to give up on this $900 boat anchor. 🤬🤬

Had one on my previous truck. With all these issues, I will probably buy one from a different company.

We had our first heavy rain today since I installed the bed cover. It leaks at the side rails. There was some extra gasket material in the box but I did not see in the instructions where it went. I will have to take the cover off and add the gasket material under the side rails.

I saw something similar with my cover after I put it on and washed the truck. Thought that I had just sprayed at an odd angle with the hose and haven't had any rain yet to check if that really was the case. I too received extra gasket material but wasn't sure what to do with it since the instructions didn't say and it wasn't enough for both rails, so I didn't use it. Let us know if it fixes your issue though.

Awesome to know that the included gasket material, but not enough and no instructions on where to put it. 🤣. I am currently waiting on the 3 set of rails so that I can install mine, it’s only been sitting in the garage for a month. 🤬🤬
