Ball joint maintenance question

Hi All,

Just checking to see if the grease I have\use typically Lucas X-TRA Heavy Duty (Green) grease is suitable for my ball joints. I know its NLGI certified: HPM Core +HL. Alternatively, I have some of RCV's high Moly grease handy.

I’d go with the Lucas myself if that’s what you have on hand. I wouldn’t use the RCV grease. That stuff is EXPENSIVE!!! For all my joints I don’t go super pricey on grease. As long as it’s slimey it’ll do the job. I just push another squirt in with every oil change/tire rotation/axle grease. Pretty sure I have basic Lucas loaded in my mini gun right now. I’d have to check.

For automotive ball joints, use a high-quality NLGI #2 Lithium Complex grease (GC-LB rated) to ensure superior wear protection, water resistance, and longevity. Popular, effective options include Lucas Red 'N' Tacky, Mobil 1 Synthetic, and Mystik JT-6. Apply using a grease gun, filling until the boot is firm but not ruptured.
