This oil filter adapter gets some good reviews, but I’ve seen them installed on older jeeps. Seems to be a good idea, however, I’m not sure how it would affect the warranty on a new Gladiator. Also, not sure how the securing mechanism would damage the plastic threads on the oil cooler. Your thoughts?

I ran one on my 2022 Gladiator Rubicon and had no issue. Have one on order for my 2025 Gladiator Sport that I am expecting this week and will be installing by weeks end.

A handful of people have reported leaks using them but I think that is way in the minority of those out there in use and service.

From my experience, the thread locking feature of the device is pretty strong and unless you go full retard strength on tightening it, should not be an issue.

As to warranty, it is like anything else that is installed aftermarket. In theory, it should not be an issue but there is still the risk of having an idiot dealership service department flag it as a claimed cause of issue without proving anything. It is removable and what I would recommend before taking in for any warranty claim related to the engine.

The thread @wcberry posted is a good primer to read up on it. Will boil down to a personal decision of weighing the pros and cons and your own risk aversion assessment.

Herein lies the problem with MMWA75. The letter of the law states they need to demonstrate that any modification is the actual or reasonable cause of the failure. Dealerships don't even do this though because the only way to get remedy if they flag your VIN unscrupulously is to take them to court, and the cost of the lawyer is almost certainly more than any repairs you need to pay for out of pocket.

One of many reasons why things akin to CFPB are necessary. Without regulations on and watchdogs for consumer protections, laws only state what people can't get away with IF it's more expensive than a lawyer. You can get away with treating customers like dog poop, as long as the way you screw them is cheaper than a lawyer no matter what laws are written.

Northridge, just did a sit down with the owner of the company, I havnt watched it yet. Seems a lot of mixed opinions on it.
I’m curious to what @ShadowsPapa has to say about this video.

I put 285,000 miles on a 3.6 without a fancy oil filter, adapter, or anything other than 10k oil changes.

Was running like a champ when I traded it on my Gladiator.

I use one on my 22 AEV Ruby. No warranty issues, only dealer curiosity.
Note: I think the Baxter unit is only half the mod. To complete it I think the lower cast aluminum housing with oil cooler makes it a one and done.
I did not install the lower Dorman unit, but plan to this spring when I change oil again.
