The Yakima Rack will not work

I’m confused, won’t you need to buy Yakima’s tonneau cover attachments to attach to the feet of the bases to work with the t slot rails? To my knowledge they bolt to the bottom and then that’s how they slide into the rails. It looks like they would line up from your pic. Maybe I’m looking at this wrong.

You would need the tonneau kit, but the base would cover the rubber lip and wouldn't allow the cover to roll open and close.

Maybe I'm biased, but those 3 wheelers are tough to beat. Covered pretty much every road that can be driven on (and some that shouldn't) in Alaska over the years with mine.

And then again, I love my Scrambler, too. : )

Best of both worlds, as they say....

Following this maybe Jeep engineers will come up with their own solution to this conundrum. I couldn't wait any longer as I submitted my special order, so I went with the hard tri-fold. Probably the least likely to have any compatibility what -so-ever but its great for daily use to make the bed more of a "trunk".

It still wouldn't work due to the angle of the post and the tiedown bracket on the inside

So frustrating. Just have to hold out for a retractable or another option. Or the elevate rack. Just not really an overland option there.

Honestly this blows my mind. I feel there are a ton of people who purposely bought the JT for the overland capability due to the bed. Only to find out there has been no engineering by major tonneau companies to accommodate bed racks. I feel like people who have been successful have had to piece meal it together. Frustrating.

So just a thought how much higher would the Yakima t slot adapter plates for Tonneau's raise the arms off the bed? Maybe with those on it raise them enough to clear?

I'm fascinated by this thread. I have the Yakima Overhaul bars now too. I will have to sell my factory tonneau- which is fine- but I NEED to find a tonneau that will work.

Agreed I would love to utilize something like the Yakima system with a tonneau cover.
I found this company online, Peragon. I’ve never owned a truck until now so I’m not sure if they are known but the product is USA made and looks really cool. I called to inquire and they said they are planning to support the Gladiator. They just don’t have a date yet and I couldn’t get details on what planning meant (ie it’s in the works or just discussions surrounding the idea at this point). Hard to tell from videos but maybe something like this will work?
