I fabricated a carbon fiber/ epoxy 4# cab side bed panel and routed out some slots for straps as an alternative to 20+# steel.
I chose to use straps to hold gear bags dedicated to specific use, tow straps, jumper cables and battery, first aid, water, tie downs, etc. they snap off in seconds but you could mount anything you want, it is very strong.
For a test mule I'm really happy with the results. I'm going to build a side panel for additional capacity. Anybody think there is a market for this?
