Ditch the tonneau cover and go with an enclosed bed rack!

I went from a SyneticUSA tonneau cover with a bed rack to a half height enclosed bed rack from china. I was nervous at first but the quality came out really good.

Interesting. I did look at some of the half height or ‘low’ bed racks. Can I ask where you got yours and what model it is?

Got it off Alibaba for 942$ to my door. Model, not entirely sure. Spent 3-4 weeks messaging manufacturers to get the lowest tariff costs.

First post after ghosting for a bit...

I went with the Putco T Slot rails. They will work with any 'inside the bed' tonneau cover. I went with a soft rolling one for a variety of reasons. Haven't installed it yet, but should be able to get that done on Sunday afternoon.

When I'm ready for the rack I was just going to do something like this. Spreads the cost out and gives me more options.

Thank you, that’s a great set up and an intriguing solution. Looks like a fun bed rack you found as well.

Theres 4 -5/16" SS carriage bolts 3" long the hold each side down. The head fits nicely in the tslot. Underneath its centered on the space with a lock nut and washer like it was designed that way. Each rail is 52" but could be a bit longer in the back. I wanted to leave the bed rail open for something else. I just discovered I need to slide the vertical supports forward about 2 " which is easy to do. The grille fit right in the tslot channel wo modification. Considered using a case iron grate but I like the SS contrast with the bolts. Im mounting 2 awnings to the top as well
Just clarifying, did you drill through the top of your bed rail for the carriage bolts or another way to secure to bed?
Thanks

Drilled 5/16" holes through the bed rail. Its centered on the raised ridge on the original bed rail plastic cover. That centers it underneath nicely to get a lock nut on. Also had to put a strip of heavy 1/4 x 1/2" foam on one side of the extrusion to level it due to the MX4 flange. You can barely see the foam on the lower right corner sticking out.

Elevate truck rack with an x4s here. Compatible, affordable and functional. Both Truck Hero products.

Make your own using T slot material from places like TNUTZ. All custom, much stronger you could imagine and a whole heck of a lot cheaper. Picture shows an 18 inch riser allowing for an MX4 from Realtruck. The center support isn't necessary but does hold the DYI molle rack from a bbq grill. That's a Thule carrier on top, but you could easily put an RTT up there as well.

But it still won't work with most trifold covers

The risers are 18" and I could have shortened it a bit and still had clearance. I didnt want a rollup as they are known to leak. Im not aware of any trifolds it wouldn't work with. I installed the MX4 then build a 2x3 wood frame as a pattern to order the extrusions precut. I suppose I couldn't have spent $2300 on someone else's idea and had the same function. Its different, I agree. But thats what make Jeeps the perfect canvas. Just look at all the suppliers out there wanting your $$.
