I am looking for help in setting up my Rubicon with a Bed Racking system that can be installed with a Tonneau cover. Curious if anyone has been able to do so? My Rubicon has the Trail Rail Cargo rails in the bed and i'm told this will prevent that combo set up.
Any advise is appreciated.
Thanks!

not exactly sure what you mean by bed racking but its sounds like you are looking for something KBvoodo makes or a combination of TS truck hero rails and yakima (or simiar) with a tonneau cover.

https://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/jeep-gladiator-aluminum-hi-rise-crossbars-for-use-with-tonneau-covers

My setup with the the TS rails and gator cover can be seen on left below. (the gator and rough country tonneau are the same. A review of their install instructions shows this, they are identical.) The rails attach with clamps but are compatible with Mopar trail rail system. The TS rails are T-slot style. Other covers will work with the TS rails. the TS rails require a small amount of modification to work with the gator or RC tonneaus but only took about 15 min with a dremmel. There are other covers that wont require any modification to wok with TS rails natively though....just make sure that cover will work with mopar trail rail.

The KBvoodoo setup is probably easier to setup if you dont have to modify anything.
If you happen to choose a tonneau cover that is compatible with the mopar trail rail and TS hero truck rails then the setup is no harder or easier.

both setups allow for taller cross bars if desired. My main reason for choosing my setup was aesthetics. My setup also gave me some extra tie down points and cap rails.

Overall, the cost between the 2 is about the same with one caveat...Yakima has WAY more used stuff on ebay/craigslist. My crossbars, towers and landing pad were used on ebay for about $250 and look new. rhino rack and thule also make systems that work with T-slot rails and usually have MSRP cheaper than yakima MSRP if you want new stuff.

Yeah I have the Mopar Hard Tri-Fold and Trail Rail system and in the same boat. Seems like it'd have to be the Voodoo. I'm still deciding between half/full height for kayaks/bikes, etc.

Question for you though, when you want to open the tonneau cover and have the crossbars removed, you're still stuck with the double side clamps going under the cover, right? That's the only negative to me, but I guess as long as I put the first crossbar behind the first third of the cover, I could keep the crossbars there for looks and just remove i

Nope(ish)...the TS rails are designed to work with tonneaus. It technically is under the cover but the difference is the Truck hero ts rails provide a flat surface the length of the tonneau cover with a t-slot system vs having 4 separate slightly raised points with the KBvoodoo system. The KBvoodoo dont look bad but the truck hero with yakima looks more OEM. Comes with seals to keep pretty water tight. With that said if you prefer a more industrial look, KB stuff looks good. I borrowed some pictures from another member who inspired my setup and they show better detail. The mopar tonneau cover would probably work with this though Id have to see how exactly it attaches to be sure.

I see what you mean! Thanks for the pics, super helpful. Yeah, the Truck Hero TS flat rail looks a lot better overall since I wouldn't want my crossbars on all the time.

Thanks for sharing these details, this looks like a good option for me as I have the Tri-fold hard Mopar cover.

Thanks for the great feedback and pics. I was hoping to have racks that would clear the roof. I'll check the website and see if they have other options.

Just sending out an update to close this one off. I ended up going with the 18" Max Modular combo with the Truxedo Lo Pro Tonneau cover. Worked awesome. Very Happy. Gotta start shopping for my tent next.

I am bringing up an old thread but I have searched online and the forum without luck.

Do the truck hero TS rails work with the trail rail system or the DIY version? None the installation info I can find says yes or no.
