Behind the seat gun rack - thoughts?

I have a big dog and mostly run with the back seats flat. A while ago I made a

panel to cover up the back seat hooks so it’d be more comfortable for her. Then I got a lever action….

…there’s a fair amount of unused space there. Anybody seen anything built for this? I’ve already looked a bunch of underseat options, yet to see a behind the seat option for JTs.

Nice Marlin Trapper. I have no idea how to mount something behind the seat since I have not looked back there yet in my Gladiator. I think I would put that gun in a gun sock though to keep it from getting the wood scratched though. The one I had took a beating in the gun safe from moving guns in and out

someone posted an overhead mount recently that might work for you if you didn't plan on leaving the gun in the truck all of the time or removing the top

Bungee cords o Velcro loops? I’ve got a mossberg 590 behind my back seats and I use strips of Velcro. Holds it securely, doesn’t move.

I can also just yank on it hard and rip it free when I fold the seat down.

that’s a pretty rifle though. Be ready for some “character” to be on the finish

Thank you! Yes I agree - the fitment is good as is but would need additional padding or a sock. Ideally a locking box that could integrate with the seat hooks. LockerDown has something similar but it’s too big for the JT.

I think in this case, a thread redirect is acceptable. There's nothing like a lever gun. I have three One in a marlin with the correct JM stamp that my parents gave me for HS graduation. There's not enough $$ on the planet to pry it away. Recently I've added 2 Henry's A 22 golden boy of course, and a 3030 that I had to order with the stock engraved. My Marlin has never had the sights touched since 1980. When I was younger, my buddy's dad was a cowboy competition shooter. He taught me to shoot and still today I prefer old iron sights.
