Good to see you are out wheeling! We had to turn back at Brush, CO because of a family emergency so no mountains for me this week.?Today's wheeling over Georgia and Boreas Pass near Breckenridge, CO. Recent monsoon rains have caused mud/rock slides, shutting down or making local trails very difficult. This was a moderate and easy trail 65 miles from home.
Get back out to Colorado when you can. I-70 is closed at Glenwood for the next month or so, so travel West will require Highway 285/50 South or 6/40 North. 285 has the most trails that are still open and very scenic. North trails have been impacted by fires and monsoon rains with mud/rock slides.
Our son lives in Salida so that is our go to area. Hope we can get back out this year but have my doubts.
Salida (central Colorado) area is second only to Ouray area in my book for beautiful trails, and it's only 2 hours tops from home. Trying to decide next week's trail, maybe Buena Vista area. Far enough, but not too far for a day trail run.
You wouldn't be disappointed, just plan ahead if you need to get further West than Eagle, CO. Just hit Denver, then go south on 285, hit the great trails along the way, and continue all the way down to Ouray. You could hit Moab on the way up and back and then take the North 40 scenic route.
Ouray has always been my go to, Moab is fun, but the heat is not my favorite
