Best dealer to help find my specific Gladiator?

Hi Friends,

We are looking to add a 2nd JT Diesel to our stable, but we are set on some very specific options. 2024 doesn't offer the diesel, and we can't find anything new on lots, or used that checks all the boxes. Anyone here worked with any particular dealers that were willing to find something very specific for them? Thank you.

It’s a bad time to shop for a diesel. And I mean… you’re limited to what’s left on the lots and dealerships are selling the 23’s at deep discounts. Your options are limited and you might need to search extremely FAR AWAY to find what you want.

The 24’s are out….. and once the 23’s inventory is gone, it’s gone.

We bought our 2024 only 3 weeks ago.

Gupton has helped me find very specific wranglers in the past.

Columbia Jeep in Tennessee is the dealership a lot of people in the music industry in Nashville go to for their specific builds. Several years ago I chatted with Eric Church for around 3 hours- and he bought Lunch for me that day- when he was picking up two identical versions of a trackhawk. This is probably different than finding an existing example at a different dealership and making a trade for it, though.

My former boss used to use an auto broker with good success. He (the broker) had visibility into what was coming off lease/was returned and could be purchased. He would give the broker a list of colors/options and the broker would come back to him ina couple of days with a bunch of options. They’d arrange a video call, look over the vehicles and pick one. The broker would then make all the arrangements transport wise to get the vehicle delivered. A lot of times he was looking at vehicles from far away.

The broker worked out so well that a couple of other coworkers used him to locate vehicles as well.

The dealers I've dealt with have limited abilities in that area. They usually only work within xxx miles of their own store, or with those they have agreements with, etc.
And the Jeep search features won't show all of them.
Go to autotrader and use that - it's how I found reign Wranglers over a year ago - some that the dealers didn't list. Some simply won't show up at all because they may have been sold orders that ended up not being picked up.
It's honestly going to take a lot of work - and like already suggested, a broker, perhaps.

Dealers have the ability to search other dealer inventories. They can search by features too. That’s how I found mine. My dealer(not everyone will do this). Made a dealer trade and sold them a truck and bought mine from the dealer that had my jeep.

My dealer actually does this a lot. I used to drive for them occasionally and pick up cars all over for them. Drove to Georgia once from NY to pick up a minivan for a customer. They let me pick up my jeep as well.

tl:dr ask your local dealer if they can do a dealer trade. Within 100 miles, they have the ability easily to get it same day. Depends on the dealer if they will though.

I had specific requirements. It was December '23 and I was searching for a '21 in Nacho with color matched fenders and hardtop. Ended up just using Google. Found one in Mannheim PA. Dealer was firm on price but split shipping to East Texas with me. A Rubicon was more than I wanted but, oh well, at age 76 it may be my last vehicle.
