I have been looking for a good Fridge to take with me as I travel and there are so many to choose from I thought I would ask everyone what they are using.

I like the RTIC refrigerators that you fill with ice and let pee every once in a while.

I run the Dometic CFX50W. Love it.

I talk about it and the mounting setup at the 15 min mark in our build update.

Happy with my ARB50 for 4 years. No problems and very low Ah draw.

Just about any of the major brand fridges will work great. I've had Waeco (now Dometic), ARB, FridgeFreeze, and Dometic. Every one of them functioned perfectly. The only reason I've switched from one to another was because of size or more modern feaures. My first fridge, a Waeco purchased at least 17 years ago, is still purring along in my girlfriend's GMC Terrain.

I have a Dometic CFX95DZW and really love it. It is HUGE. The only fault I can find with it is it’s size and that is not the cooler’s fault it didn’t it itself and come to my house. I’m currently in negotiations with my wife to also get a smaller one for daily use and short family trips. I use my CFX95DZW to keep drinks cold outside in my utility trailer where the kids cannot find them. No worse feeling in the world than opening the fridge in anticipation of an ice cold Coke Zero and they are all gone by way of the kids.

Can anyone point me in a good size Dometic for a weekend overlander? I know each person packs different amounts of food but just looking for a suggestion for 2 people for a weekend. I plan to put it in the back seat area ( seats removed or folded down) as I have 2- 130lbs dogs that will be consuming the bed.

ARB here. It's been very reliable for close to a quarter million miles of travel in my JK--much of that overland all across North America. But, there are many quite reliable fridges. I'd look at features and measure sizes closely. My only real complaint with the ARB is the lid has no self-support. So, one hand is holding it up while the other is mucking around with the fridge contents. A bit awkward. But, that is fixed on the newer ARB fridges. Wish they'd offer a fix for mine. It really is a nuisance.

Edit: Video if you'd like to see it in my JK. 33:30 if not forwarded ...

Mark you might want to consider installing a gas strut like the guy in this thread...

Thanks! I'll have to ask my daughter to figure out exactly what I need and where to mount it. She did that for our friend, James, who was building out his Canadian M101 trailer with a lid and RTT. She's a research physicist and enjoys solving small problems like that for me. Allows her to take a break from writing her doctoral thesis on heat recovery techniques to reduce climate change.
