From the moment I knew I was getting a JT, the look I wanted is the Black Rhino Armory wheels. I saved up enough for a set, along with some Toyo Open Country AT3's. I wanted to keep the money local to Wisconsin, so I bough through Extreme Custom's Wheels For Warriors program (located in Oshkosh, WI) and got a decent price. My experience with Extreme Customs is a topic for another thread once... if... I ever get my wheels. My problem is the buyers remorse I'm having before I even get the things. I know that for every one bad review there are likely 10 times as many people who had no issues at all, but I'm seriously starting to get this gut feeling I made a bad decision buying these wheels. I'm reading so much about how they're heavy, prone to rust, and the plastic parts break off. Are these wheels really that bad? Is Black Rhino's customer service really as bad as I'm reading for warranty claims if/when I have these issues?

Is there anybody here in the frozen north that can talk me off this ledge? I can probably cancel before I get these, spend the money on some Mojave take offs I found in the area, and spend the difference on a cool bumper and winch.

Thanks in advance for any advice from people who actually have these wheels.

I’ve heard that the rust issues were addressed with some sort of change to their coating process, though I don it have any primary source for that.

I’m currently looking at moving my 285/75R18’s from my stock Overland rims to something with a more negative offset to address a little rubbing on the front LCA’s.

I would be curious to hear from anyone with the Black Rhino armory/Abrahms/Arsenal wheels with 3.73 gears. I already know the “feel” with 35’s on the stock rims—I’m curious how the additional rim weight would impact the drive with the same tires.

I Have the wheels and have 400 miles on them so No Problems BUT I have read the same Bad reviews you have. I still Love them but was taken aback when the BR Website states that it will have NO Contact with the Buyer as HE Must go thru the Distributor. That is AFU! I Guess I will Wait and See-You make the Choice!

It seems that most of the bad reviews have been older, or at least pre-2020, so I was hoping for some good news from somebody who's been through a salty northern winter or two with them. I ordered them with 285/75R17 tires to keep down extra weight and not risk any rub.

A good buddy of mine, who sold me the Jeep from the dealership, has BR Arsenals and says he loves them; hasn't had any issues since June 2020. I just don't want to get screwed when it was hard enough to save up for this set.

I have had armory wheels for the past year and a half with no issues. 15500 miles. I live in SC about 7 miles from the beach. No rust at all. The only issue is that everyone wants them haha. One plus is they never have brake dust on them.

What size are those tires?

I’ve been trying to get an idea of how the stance will look with those rims (in 18”) with 285/75R18’s.

Tires are Toyo Open Country AT3 285/75R17's. Most tire size calculators put them at 33.8 inches. I think the 285/75R18 is slightly bigger. I have no lift, stock Sport S.

Well, this post, and my wheels, aged better than my first Jeep did, ?! Ended up getting my black Sport S bought back by Stellantis as a lemon and bought a better Freedom Edition replacement. The wheels are getting a little sun fading from UV but are otherwise holding up well. Only one winter used so far, but I think they’ll do okay as long as I continue to be as militant about maintenance as I’ve been.

It’s a 2021 model. Had to drive two hours to get it off a lot in Minnesota, but it was worth it. Glad I got my wheels when I did. Ordered them and had them on my Jeep in less than three weeks, but that was back in March of 2021.
