Bonehead mistake - put key fob in laundry

Learned the same lesson years ago with those cheap red cotton mechanics rags. Left one in a pocket and it put a pink tinge to the whole wash load.

Picked up a pile of my military uniforms off the floor and threw in the washer. Load banging on spin cycle. Yep, my combat boots were in the pile. Was never asked to do laundry again. Not the only bone headed thing I've done.

Oh the stuff I've missed until I opened up washing machine. Pressurized writing pens, rubber gloves, notebooks, the reason I didn't carry change for a long time too. One of my Zippo lighters has been washed more times than some people wash jeans.

did some laundry this morning. while setting around waiting for it to finish to get my day started my alarm kept going off. I would run out side and nothing. come back in, it goes off again. hmmm so i google why this would happen. i was looking at the comments ant thought Iam not ready for this crap. goes off again. I go back in the house house to get some tools to disconnect the battery. my laundry is done I decide to take it out of the dryer while doing this I find my key in my pants pocket. I guess while it was tumbling around it was some ho hitting the panic button and setting it off and stopping it. How it was hitting the panic button i have no idea, but I did find out the key fob is water tight.

I think this shows how sensitive the panic button is. I set mine off all the time.

This is hilarious. I think your key fob was a little panicked about being in the washer though.

I did the same a few days ago, I accidentally set off a can of bear spray in my hunting gear lol. Needed to wash the insulated bib pants & in my rush forgot the keys were in the pocket it did not go through the whole cycle but my key fob malfunctioned afterwards. Kept chirping the alarm & setting it off. Wouldn’t open the vehicle at first & then wouldn’t remote start it. I took the battery out left it all open until it dried completely then functioned returned to normal.

all my fobs get washed. Never had a problem. My 04 Tacoma still has the original battery i think too.
