Mine does it too. I park on a hill and just assumed it’s the hill start assist slowly disengaging. I’m not 100% sure

Anyone had the dealership look at it? I park on a flat surface so I don’t think it has anything to do with the hill start assist.

Flat parking. Does it in reverse or forward. Straight or turning does not matter. First thing in the morning, or after it sits for awhile. Gotta be brakes or maybe a bad wheel bearing?

I had the same problem. I ignored it for a while then noticed it would happen at low speeds. Even without a stop before moving or the brakes being applied while going slow. At idle speeds id get a squeak.

after talking it through with my dealer, making the case it represents a potential safety hazard to me and my family if the sounds is a precursor to a brake failure, and sending them a video of it happening, my dealer made the fix under warranty. New brake lines, calipers, rotors, and pads.

i think the bit about the potential safety issue scared jeep corporate (or whoever) when he sent it up for approval.

aftet having it all replaced ive had zero noises, not one, for 10k + miles .

But then you don't know what the fix actually was? Sounds like a happy dealer wanting to do all the warranty work they could justify. Promise it wasn't the brake lines.

the dealer knew it wasn’t the lines but said if they’re replacing some they may aswell replace more. And there is a chance the lines were damaged since I lifted the jeep (only 2 in) so it was a “safe fix” just to make sure they were at the appropriate length.

Needed or not it didn’t bother me to have it all done. Having a dealer willing to make it s warranty claim and then try to do everything possible gives me a warm and fuzzy about their shop.

this isn’t the first time this shop had taken care of me so i wasn’t complaining lol warranty work away my little wrench elves.

Could it be rust on the brakes?

Before you drive next time, look at your rotors and see if there is any superficial rust or grime on the rotors. It seems like rust develops quickly on rotors sometimes and this could be causing them to squel until you brake a few times to remove the rust.

My guess, and I was going to test it tonight but forgot, was if you have your foot on the brakes when you park and turn it off then it doesn't fully release the pressure when you turn it off.

I had the same issue almost every morning squeak coming from the rear. I left it with my local dealer over night so they could drive it first thing in the morning. They ended up replacing the rotors in the rear under warranty. No squeaks sense.

This happened on my 2018 JLU, dealer said discs were dirty, caked in mud. I never took it off road. I also visually inspected them and saw no mud—silver. They also tried to tell me the clips that hold the pads were loose, so they replaced them under warranty back in 2019 at 12,000mi. All BS. Still squeaked and the dealer said there were going to start charging me to clean my brakes. I told them I should start charging them for wasting my time by not fixing them and feeding me crap. I got a dumb look. I don’t use the service dept where I bought my Jeeps, too far away. Local dealer service is lacking.
