Bronco Filson is nice

Happened to watch U tube about the new Bronco Filson and it looks really nice. Dirt roads, open desert, light 4x4 trails, quiet highway ride. My JT is way overbuilt for what I do but I do like it.

I keep hearing this over and over again. I’ve owned 5 Jeeps and every one has been better and more capable than the last AND have met all my needs. Had nothing to do with paint and badges. My newest JT is flat out perfect for my needs off-road, not sure how Jeep can top it.

So at the end of the day, and from actual experience, I’m not sure this is much more that a continuously regurgitated forum platitude.

I have zero idea what a Filson badged Bronco is and what its “capabilities” are. I used to love their outdoor clothing (Filson) until they became a fashion statement and priced accordingly (spell that RIDICULOUS). Maybe I’ll see one of these at the mall my wife takes me shopping to parked in front of Nordstrom. Pretty sure I won’t bump into one at any of my off-road haunts. Hell I haven’t even bumped into a Bronco of any shape or color where I hang.

Maybe I’ll have my wife look at one, she likes brand names and cushy SUVs. She owned an Eddie Bauer edition Explorer years ago before she bought a Lincoln Navigator and then a Hummer. It was very pretty SUV but Eddie Bauer stopped being a reputable outdoor outfitter years ago. I think they went bankrupt no?

Looks to me like Ford's bringing this one out to compete more or less with the Wrangler 392 market. Comes standard with the Sasquach package, nicer and quieter interior, a variant of the Raptor's 3.0L twin turbo engine, and starting price around $70k. Should be interesting.

The idea that they actually put a steel frame in these is interesting, and it’s a good looking vehicle. I’m headed to see those folks later this year for a business meeting. Maybe I’ll ask for a tour of the plant just for fun. My wife will be ready for a new car next year and while she loves my Jeeps she’s just not a Wrangler girl. This might be a good compromise and get her out of the Cross-Overs she’s owned lately. The price point, if they stick to it is in the budget, and cheaper than the Land Rover Defender she’s been eyeing. I any case if we do something like this it will end the Bronco vs, Jeep debate at least for my family, not that we ever had it. I have zero interest in a Bronco for myself, but really have nothing against them either and would have no issue if she likes the car.

I have had a few Broncos ,, 70, 75, 90. I have also had a few Jeep products. The Broncos had a better ride on dirt roads. I would like to think that the new Filson would be the quietest and ride the best. I am just not ready to take the hit on the JT yet, and it's probably going to be a big one.

Again, not a big fan of far reaching generic statements like that one. There are a million variables when you talk about "dirt roads" and everyones idea of a "better ride" is different and HIGHLY subjective. But hey, whatever makes you happy. Broncos just do not personaly appeal to me at all.

I can see the appeal. It might be worth every dime, but three things kept me from Bronco having owned 3 first gen Broncos, and 7 jeeps of which 2 were JTs.
First is no bed. This was a must, and why I left Silverado, and Wrangler for the JT.
Second is price. From what I can tell, the Bronco is just more expensive than the Wrangler to start with. A base 2 door Bronco is in line with the Base Gladiator.
Third, they are just too wide. Bronco was always wider than it's Jeep counterpart, and while the Wrangler has gotten wider with every gen since 1986, the new Bronco looks like it needs some GLP-1. Unless it is a base, it is hard to see how it is a spinoff from the Ranger rather than the F-150.
The only big girl I want is the 2006 H1 with a Duramax.

"More or less"...a lot less. It's a raptor without the raptor suspension? Even though the raptor makes way more power on paper, it's performance is closer to the 2.0t at 5.6s 0-60. The thing is a dog compared to the 392. At least the raptor could pull away over really rough terrain. They removed the good parts to "compete" with the 392? In reality the moab and willys 392 pricing is so much better than the raptor they had to drop the price to compete... but Jeep didn't drop their prices by removing the best features.
