I'm not sure I want to spend $200 and then have to modify/cut into it just to use those. Much appreciated.

Since you have the molle panel there, you can just cut a shorter piece of wood and and rig up something to easily attach to the molle panel -- assuming the plywood still fits in there with everything you will attach to the molle.
I ended up really packing mine up with gear and I am really still happy with the bed space... but, it is a more narrow bed now. My gear sticks out to about 3/4 of the wheel wheel on each side.
