Looking for a winch and can get a Bulldog 12K for about a third less than a Warn winch, in Canada so no Badlands up here. I'm inclined to go this route, but haven't found a lot of reviews. E-trailer page seems positive, but not sure if it is all for the winches.

Going with their mounting plate, but doubt that matters.

Onto a 2023 Rubicon set up to be flat towed. Have the stock 3 piece steel bumper (in the shed right now as I found a used one).

Thanks

Not well know, but not bad winches. Their powder coated parts have never been their strong point though, but haven’t seen any performance negatives in terms of the gearing or electric failures. Their gearing is pretty decent at a 265:1 (more pull power, but slower line speed). Another one in that price point to consider would be the Superwinch SX series.

Oooh.

Thank you very much for the suggestion. KMS tools seems to be blowing these out at $760 Cdn, but the synthetic ones are gone. I really want synthetic, otherwise I'd be all over this. Guessing a synth line will be more the $160.

Whatever winch you get, invest in a cover for it. I have a Warn and I've had an $8 waterproof cover from Amazon on it since I installed it back in 2022. It still looks new while I've seen others on here where the paint is peeling and bubbling with corrosion on the chrome parts. It also keeps the UV light away from the synthetic line.

Well, Lordco sold me a Warn Evo 12S for about $100 more than the Bulldog, so I guess I'll never know.

Couple more things to get and then on to the install.

Smittybuilt X20 vs. Badlands anyone? Good reviews on both and within $50 of each other. Like the wireless remote on the Smitty

Both good for the price, but as just my $.02, I’d go with the Badlands for this reason, easy to get to their store and walk in and exchange it if have an issue within the first 90 days, and if you spring for the 2-year, you get 2 years of walk in and exchange for a replacement should something go bad on it. I’ve only seen one Badlands fail out on our trail rides, and that thing hard a hard life by its owner, not like it was just a new one failing or anything, so he got every bit of use out of it, was a good 4 years old and had hard use on it.
