I would take the buyback for what they are offering it. The market has come down and there is deals to be had on a newer one for the same money or less.
This.
I've seen discounts of $10K off sticker on trucks north of $55k
You gain 3 years on depreciations and if there's something you wanted to do differently, you're almost being paid to do it.

2020, 22k miles. I had it up for sale prior to taking it to the dealer and I was offered 55k so I don’t think it will depreciate as much as you think.
You were offered 55k for a truck with 30k of mods so an 85k dollar truck. Stock you are getting mid forties at best all day. Take the 58k get a 2024 and come out with 4 years less depreciation and 3k in your pocket.

Then find an under invoice dealer and place an order with them for what you want.

If you have the original parts I would take the buyback and get a newer vehicle. If you are like me and sale the take offs that you can sale and make a profit on you might want to keep it.

What have you done that cost $35k?

55K for a buyback? Take it. No question. You can get a loaded '23 Mojave for 55K with today's incentives. Doesn't appear that there would be much to finance so lending rates shouldn't be the issue.

Take the mods off and transfer them over or sell them. Win, win.

If you can find a new one for $10K off (didn’t know that’s where the market was at the moment) and you’ve got 50K+ miles (did not see the miles question addressed)…I’d have to amend my vote to take the buyback.

It really wouldn’t be difficult to hit that number. Especially with shop labor rates factored in. Hell…I’ve got almost $10K in mine and I haven’t touched the suspension, electronics, engine, bumpers, body, etc.

It looks like FCA wants you to forget about the history too. Your story, (all of us with components replaced multiple times) have terrible stories to tell and it affects FCA’s bottom line. I’m sure they care, somewhere deep down, about the sales numbers and our stories turn potential buyers away. So they are making good with you. Take the deal.

It’s Hard to know all the details of your situation. But worth considering it’s a few years newer which means: 1) new technology, 2) latest production benefits so in theory they’ve worked out more of the kinks on this model, rattles, quality control (that matters even more if production was during COVID lockdowns), 3) the subtle wear and tear on brakes, components, bushings, hoses, electronics- they all have a lifespan that might not come in to play now but 4-5 years from now it would be nice to have a 2-3 year old vehicle vs. 5-6. I’d likely take the trade. Good luck

Hi everyone looking for some advice…long story short, had lots of issues the entire time with my truck up until about 6 months ago, from an engine replacement to being at the dealer for weeks at a time for other reasons but it seems like all the issues were worked out and it has been like I’ve always wanted. They gave me an extended warranty 100k 6yrs for free so I still have coverage for a few more years.

Last time it was at the dealer I reached out to FCA about a buyback and 6 months later they approved it. They are offering $58,000. I have a lot of blood, sweat and tears in my JT along with almost 30k in upgrades. They want the truck back stock so I get to keep all the parts I’ve put on but it’s going to be a ton of work getting it back to stock.

Question for you guys is should I keep it or accept the buyback?
If you love your truck and its running good, and an extended warranty? Wheres the down side to that? I'd for sure keep if it was me

@calipoontappa

You have definitely installed some nice upgrades so It my not be worth trading if the Jeep is running well now and you don't have any complaints with it now. Especially if you don't owe much on it or have it paid off

what's your time worth? If it works now, and the bugs have all been sorted... A new vehicle does not mean it won't have it's own issues, as you've already experienced. Did you buy it based on trade-in value later? Or did you buy it to use it?

Yeah when I bought it I never thought i would have all the issues it had especially since it was brand new.

I bought it new and paid it off last year, biggest hurdle is the time and effort in removing everything off the off the old truck putting it back to stock THEN removing all the stuff off the new one and installing all of the parts again on the new truck. Hour and hours of work, leaning towards the buyback.
